Impact Kwang-Hyun Kim is 1-for-1 on save chances, but he gave up two runs (one earned) to notch his first save. Gallegos may be behind Kim and possibly Ryan Helsley in the pecking order for saves, but he could eventually wrangle that role if he proves to be the team's most consistent reliever.

Frederickson notes Miller has generated three consecutive scoreless appearances in camp through Sunday after a shaky first outing in which he gave up two earned runs, recording multiple strikeouts in two of them. While Miller is mainly ticketed for eighth-inning duties once again this season, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports Miller will certainly also be a closing option when Kwang-Hyun Kim, just named to the ninth-inning role Monday, isn't available.

That included Wong's first opportunity to face noted offseason acquisition Kwang-Hyun Kim for some live reps in the batter's box, an encounter from which the veteran second baseman came away impressed. "First time facing his funkiness, and he has some funkiness," Wong said. "That guy attacks. Both sides. It was good to get in that kind of at-bat. He showed me a good curve, and then the slider - it just disappeared."

Impact The veteran right-hander has not only continued his five-day-per-week throwing sessions with rotation mate Kwang-Hyun Kim, but the duo has actually upped its long-toss distance to almost 300 feet. Wainwright also reveals he's throwing to the team's bullpen catcher, Jamie Pogue, on one of the two days he's not playing catch, with the latter wearing a mask and a rubber glove on his throwing hand in order to keep the process safe. Wainwright reveals the extended layoff from baseball has helped him appreciate the game more and has also seemingly rejuvenated his arm, with the aforementioned distance achieved by him and Kim qualifying as one Wainwright hadn't managed in more than five years.
