Added to 40-man roster The Padres selected Bachar's contract Friday and optioned him to Triple-A El Paso, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Impact Bachar exercised an opt-out clause in his minor-league deal with the San Diego on Thursday, giving the team 24 hours to add him to their 40-man roster. Rather than lose the 29-year-old in free agency, the Padres will award him a roster spot, though he will remain in El Paso for now. Bachar owns a 4.06 ERA and 1.45 WHIP through 57.2 innings in his first season at the Triple-A level.
