Ignites offense Taveras went 1-for-5 with a triple and a run scored in Wednesday's 8-5 win over Arizona. Impact The Rangers were set down in order over the first three innings before Taveras ignited a three-run fourth with his first triple of the season. Taveras has not handled MLB pitching well early in his big-league career -- he was optioned back to Triple-A Round Rock earlier this season after making Texas' roster out of spring training -- but he's looking like a more confident hitter these days. Over the last eight games, he's 10-for-33 (.303) with six extra-base hits, four RBI, three steals and five runs scored. "This guy can impact a game, like I've said many times," manager Chris Woodward told Kennedi Landry of MLB.com. "It's just a consistency in him learning how to approach different at-bats... There's a ton of conviction in the swing." The trick for Taveras will be to build on his success for the remainder of the season, thus putting him in position for an outfield gig in 2022.
