Jo Adell - Fades into platoon role Adell is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians.

Impact Adell will take a seat for the fourth time in six games and appears to have moved into the short side of a platoon in left field with the lefty-hitting Mickey Moniak, who is serving as the Angels' leadoff man for the second day in a row. Since the All-Star break, Adell has turned in a .609 OPS while striking out at a 38.1 percent clip, which has made it tough for the Angels to justify giving him everyday playing time.

Matt Duffy - Regains everyday role Duffy will start at third base and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Guardians.

Impact He'll be making his sixth consecutive start at third base and looks to be fairly secure as an everyday player now that fellow infielder Andrew Velazquez (knee) has been shut down for the season. Since returning from the injured list Aug. 29, Duffy is hitting .195/.250/.317 in 14 games.

Jack Mayfield - Returns from IL Mayfield (undisclosed) went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to Sugar Land after being activated from Triple-A Salt Lake's 7-day injured list.

Impact Mayfield had been sidelined for the past six weeks due to the unspecified injury. The 31-year-old utility man owns a .230/.279/.394 slash line over 179 plate appearances at Salt Lake this season.

Andrew Velazquez - Shut down with torn meniscus Velazquez was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a right meniscus tear.

Impact Velazquez sustained the injury in Tuesday's game against the Guardians and will be sidelined for the remainder of the season after receiving the diagnosis. The 28-year-old played in a career-high 125 games in 2022 and slashed .196/.236/.304 with nine homers, 37 runs, 28 RBI and 17 stolen bases. Velazquez will soon undergo surgery and is facing a recovery timetable of approximately 6-to-8 weeks, so he should be back to full strength for spring training.

Michael Stefanic - Called up Wednesday Stefanic was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday.

Impact Stefanic was sent to the minors in late July, and he missed a few games at the end of August due to back spasms. However, he's been back in action over the last few weeks and has slashed .484/.590/.871 with two home runs, a triple, four doubles, nine runs and nine RBI over nine games since the start of September. He should have a chance to carve out playing time for the Angels down the stretch after Andrew Velazquez (knee) was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.
