Impact Adell was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the seventh inning to force in the Angels' fifth run. He's had spotty hitting since the All-Star break, going 3-for-15 (.200) with two RBI and a run scored in his last five games. He's holding onto a regular role in the corner outfield spots, and it's one he'll likely have until Mike Trout (ribs) can return. Adell is slashing .235/.279/.357 with three steals, three home runs, 13 RBI and six runs scored through 122 plate appearances.

Impact Ward hadn't recorded a steal since June 27, but he accounted for one of the Angels' five thefts Tuesday. The 28-year-old outfielder is batting .217 (15-for-69) in July, continuing his regression in what's been his worst month of the season at the plate. Overall, he owns a .287/.379/.489 slash line with 13 home runs, 35 RBI, 46 runs scored and three steals in five attempts through 73 contests.

Impact Stassi provided some extra insurance with a solo shot in the ninth inning. The catcher has gone 5-for-16 (.313) with three extra-base hits since the All-Star break. Stassi will likely continue to see most of the playing time behind the dish over veteran Kurt Suzuki.

Impact Tuesday marked Sierra's first start for the Angels, and he played center field while batting eighth. He was one of two Angels with multiple hits, and added some speed by twice stealing third base in the fifth and seventh innings. The 26-year-old outfielder racked up 22 steals in 76 contests with Triple-A Salt Lake, so his success on the basepaths shouldn't come as much surprise. He entered Tuesday as a .240 career hitter across 234 games, so it's fair to question if his batting will earn him much playing time while Mike Trout (ribs) is out.

Impact Ohtani suffered a bruised knee when he fouled a ball off his leg Monday, but it didn't cost the 28-year-old any playing time. He opened the scoring with a third-inning solo shot, and that was ultimately all the Angels needed as they cruised to victory. While he's gone a pedestrian 4-for-15 across his last four games, three of those hits have gone for extra bases. The two-way superstar is slashing .256/.349/.493 with 21 homers, 58 RBI, 55 runs scored and 11 steals through 404 plate appearances.

José Suarez - Bounces back Tuesday Suarez (2-4) earned the win Tuesday over the Royals. He allowed three hits, a walk and hit a batter while striking out three over 5.1 scoreless innings.
Impact Suarez had allowed 12 runs over 12 innings in his first three starts in July, though he faced the Astros, Orioles and Dodgers in that stretch. A favorable start against the Royals allowed the southpaw to get back on track. He threw 53 of 78 pitches for strikes in arguably his sharpest outing of the year. For the season, Suarez owns a 5.01 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 48:23 K:BB in 50.1 innings across 12 appearances (10 starts). He's projected for a home start versus the Athletics next week.

Impact For five innings, Syndergaard and opposing starter Zack Greinke engaged in a scoreless duel, with each hurler giving up only one extra-base hit. Greinke departed before the sixth, but Syndergaard was allowed to continue in that frame, and he retired the first two batters he faced. However, the following three hitters all reached base -- two via single and one by walk -- and the one run Syndergaard allowed was enough to send him to defeat on a night when he got no run support from his offense. The veteran hurler has been the subject of trade rumors of late, and he could be a decent addition to a contending team's staff given his 3.83 ERA and 1.21 WHIP on the campaign.
