Jonathan Villar - Third straight leadoff assignment Villar will start at third base and bat leadoff in Wednesday's game against the Marlins, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Impact Villar will get his third consecutive turn out of the leadoff spot, despite having reached base just once while striking out four times through his first eight plate appearances with the Angels. Though Villar is getting a look as the Angels' everyday third baseman after Matt Duffy (back) recently joined Anthony Rendon (wrist) on the injured list, don't expect him to have a long leash as the team's table setter if he doesn't start producing soon.

Brandon Marsh - On bench against southpaw Marsh isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Marlins, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Impact Marsh has started exclusively against right-handed pitchers over the last week, and he'll get a day off with southpaw Trevor Rogers on the mound for the Marlins on Wednesday. Monte Harrison is starting in left field and batting ninth.

Impact Angels hitters has very little success against Sandy Alcantara on the night, but Ohtani at least was able to add a little value on the basepaths. The steal was his ninth of the year, and over his last 13 games as a hitter, the two-way superstar is slashing .317/.455/.732 with five homers and 14 RBI.

Luis Rengifo - Swipes second bag Rengifo went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Marlins.
Impact The 25-year-old switch hitter has heated up once again as he looks to prove he's a long-term solution for the Angels in the middle infield. Rengifo has hit safely in five straight games and 10 of the last 11, batting .359 (14-for-39) over that stretch with three of his five homers and one of his two steals on the year.

Impact Villar slotted in as the Angels' leadoff hitter and starting third baseman in his first game with the club, but he didn't have much of an impact on the team's slumping offense. The veteran walked in his second at-bat but didn't otherwise reach base. Villar is expected to take over as Los Angeles' primary third baseman while Matt Duffy (back) remains on the injured list, but it isn't certain if he'll take on leadoff duties on a frequent basis.

Impact Stefanic was called up early Sunday and was immediately slotted into the starting lineup as the team's second baseman. The 26-year-old didn't have a memorable debut, however, as he struck out in all three of his plate appearances. Contact hasn't been a major issue for Stefanic in his minor-league career -- in fact, he fanned only 12 times over 178 plate appearances with Triple-A Salt Lake this season. He's slated to play on a near-everyday basis, and it's reasonable to expect Sunday's strikeout-filled performance to be more of an aberration than his norm moving forward.
