MLB's most overlooked contenders: Six teams that could steal division titles in 2024

Nolan Schanuel - Dealing with back tightnessSchanuel was scratched from the Angels' Cactus League lineup Monday because of back tightness, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

ImpactSchanuel had been slated to play first base against the Brewers but will be replaced by Miguel Sano. Consider the 22-year-old day-to-day for the time being.

Blake Walston - Sent to Triple-AThe Diamondbacks optioned Walston to Triple-A Reno on Monday.

ImpactWalston was dispatched to minor-league camp along with right-handers Slade Cecconi and Corbin Martin after all three pitchers fell short in their bids for spots on Arizona's Opening Day roster. Unlike Cecconi and Martin, Walston has yet to make his MLB debut, but the Diamondbacks saw enough potential in him to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft this winter and add him to their 40-man roster. The 22-year-old southpaw will be returning to Reno, where he posted a 4.52 ERA and 1.57 WHIP over 149.1 innings while pitching mostly in hitter-friendly venues in the Pacific Coast League.

Corbin Martin - Sent to Triple-AThe Diamondbacks optioned Martin to Triple-A Reno on Monday.

ImpactMartin was slow-played this spring after missing all of last season with a tear in the lat tendon of his right shoulder. He's healthy now and could contribute in the Diamondbacks' bullpen at some point this season, but for now he'll try to sharpen things up at Reno.
