Willi Castro - Homers again ThursdayCastro went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Thursday's loss to the Angels.
ImpactCastro homered for the second straight game, bringing him up to nine long balls for the season. He played second base in this one, though he's also seen time in left field recently. Castro has struggled most of the year, as his OPS is still at just .632, though added defensive versatility could help his cause heading into 2022.

Jeimer Candelario - Blasts 10th home runCandelario went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, two RBI and three runs scored in Thursday's loss to the Angels.
ImpactCandelario stuffed the stat sheet as part of Detroit's 10-run outburst. The infielder reached double digits in home runs for the second time in his career. He popped a career-high 19 long balls back in 2018, which is also when he registered his high-water mark in RBI with 54. Candelario now has 46 RBI after Thursday's performance, so he has a good shot at a new career best if he remains healthy, and he has an outside chance at the home run mark though he'll need a hot finish.

Miguel Cabrera - Drives in four ThursdayCabrera went 2-for-5 with a double and four RBI in Thursday's loss to the Angels.
ImpactCabrera is still seeking career home run No. 500, though he did tally the 591st double of his storied career. The 19-year veteran should record the milestone long ball at some point yet this year, and the Tigers will surely keep putting him in the lineup until he's able to do so. Cabrera may see a few more rest days once he hits that elusive home run, allowing the team to take a longer look at some younger players heading into 2022.

Matt Manning - Struggles with command ThursdayManning allowed two runs on five hits across 4.2 innings and did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Angels. He walked four and struck out four.
ImpactThe season-high four walks pushed Manning's pitch count up, as he needed 96 pitches to retire his 14 batters, though he avoided the loss as the Tigers spotted him 10 runs of support. Manning now has a 5.91 ERA through his first 11 MLB starts, and he only has 29 strikeouts across 53.1 innings, so he's not doing much to move the needle in fantasy. The 23-year-old is projected to make his next start Aug. 27 against the Blue Jays.

Michael Fulmer - Has rough outing ThursdayFulmer (5-5) allowed three runs on three hits in one inning of work to take the loss Thursday against the Angels. He walked one and struck out one.
ImpactFulmer came on in the seventh inning and allowed an inherited runner to score before getting out of the frame. However, things really got out of hand in the eighth as the Angels scored three times, with the key play a two-run home run by Max Stassi. Fulmer saw his ERA climb from 3.26 to 3.73 after the rough outing, though he should remain in the late-inning mix with the Tigers not having a dominant closer. Gregory Soto and Jose Cisnero should also continue to see save opportunities.
