Hunter Brown - Quality start in Wednesday's lossBrown (1-5) took the loss Wednesday, giving up two runs on two hits and three walks over six innings in a 2-1 loss to the Angels. He struck out three.

ImpactThe right-hander put together arguably his best start of the season and made only one real mistake, but a fifth-inning sinker got too much of the plate and Kyren Paris drove it out of the park to left-center field for a two-run homer. It was only Brown's second quality start of the year, and he's served up nine home runs in just 43.1 innings, fueling a 7.06 ERA. With Ronel Blanco (suspension) rejoining the rotation this weekend and Jose Urquidy (forearm) likely not far behind in his return, it's not clear when Brown might make his next trip to the mound.

Kyren Paris - Launches first career homerParis went 1-for-2 with a walk and a two-run home run in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Astros.

ImpactThe 22-year-old gave the Angels all the offense they would need on the afternoon when he took Hunter Brown deep in the fifth inning. It was Paris' first career big-league homer in his 26th game, and while power isn't a big part of his game, he did slug 14 home runs in 113 contests for Double-A Rocket City in 2023. Paris got the start at second base Wednesday but slid over to shortstop, and he could be looking at a longer run at the latter position if Zach Neto (elbow) winds up missing significant time.

ImpactCarlos Estevez had pitched both of the prior two days, giving up a run each time, so Angels manager Ron Washington turned to Garcia to wrap things up. The 37-year-old right-hander has never collected more than three saves in a season and his 5.06 ERA doesn't suggest he'll remain a reliable high-leverage option, but for now he seems to be the next man up when Estevez isn't available.

Tyler Anderson - Stifles 'Stros in Wednesday's winAnderson (5-4) picked up the win Wednesday, allowing one run on six hits and two walks over eight innings in a 2-1 victory over the Astros. He struck out four.

ImpactThe veteran southpaw needed 95 pitches (65 strikes) to deliver his third straight quality start and seventh of the season, and Anderson's eight frames marked his longest outing of the season. He'll take an impressive 2.52 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 44:23 K:BB through 64.1 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home next week against the Yankees.

The Angels labeled his injury as right elbow soreness, but more clarity on the severity of the injury should be known once his tests are completed. For what it's worth, Neto said the Angels' training staff told him that his injury doesn't appear to be serious.

ImpactGarrett elected free agency Sunday after being DFA'd by the Angels, but he will now return to the organization on a minor-league deal. He will report to Triple-A Salt Lake, where he has allowed two earned runs through 7.1 innings while striking out 10 batters and walking four.
