Francisco Alvarez - Sitting out series openerAlvarez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rangers, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
ImpactAlvarez will sit for the second time in three days while the Mets remain conscious of managing the 22-year-old's catching workload as the season winds down. Omar Narvaez will get another turn behind the plate and could end up working in a roughly even timeshare with Alvarez in the final month of the campaign.

Kevin Parada - Back in action for BrooklynParada (ankle) has gone 5-for-24 with a home run, two doubles and five RBI over five games for High-A Brooklyn since being reinstated from the 7-day injured list Aug. 21.
ImpactParada missed just under a month of action for Brooklyn due to a right ankle sprain before being cleared to rejoin the Mets' High-A affiliate following a four-game rehab assignment at Single-A St. Lucie. Though Francisco Alvarez looks to be the Mets' catcher of the present and future, the implementation of the universal designated hitter should create room for both Alvarez and Parada to eventually coexist on the big-league roster. Parada could still use some defensive refinement and is likely at least a couple years away from reaching the majors, however.

C.J. Cron - Yet to resume baseball activitiesCron (back) is still experiencing soreness and hasn't yet resumed baseball activities, the Associated Press reports.
ImpactCron is eligible to be activated after going on the 10-day IL on Aug. 18, but he doesn't appear to be particularly close to a return. The veteran first baseman was diagnosed with lower-back inflammation prior to hitting the injured list, and he had been struggling since joining the Angels at the end of July, slashing just .217/.280/.283 with one homer, five RBI and a 4:14 BB:K over 14 contests. The Angels have fallen 10.5 games out of an AL wild-card spot with the season winding down, so they probably won't rush Cron back and may continue to start rookie Nolan Schanuel (illness) at first base even if Cron is able to return.

Davis Daniel - Another gem on rehab assignmentDaniel (shoulder) struck out six while allowing two hits and no walks over six scoreless innings in his latest rehab start Tuesday with Single-A Inland Empire.
ImpactDaniel remains on the Angels' 60-day injured list, but his 30-day rehab window will come to a close at the end of the month and he's expected to soon be activated and assigned to either Triple-A Salt Lake or Double-A Rocket City. The right-hander has had little trouble regaining his command and control as he works his way back from the shoulder strain that has sidelined him since spring training. Through five rehab outings between stops with Inland Empire and the Angels' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate, Daniel has submitted an 0.90 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 27:2 K:BB over 20 innings.

Adam Ottavino - Nets first winOttavino (1-4) picked up the win in Sunday's victory over the Angels, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.
ImpactAfter dispatching the Halos' 5-6-7 hitters on 15 pitches (nine strikes) in the top of the ninth to preserve a 2-2 tie, Ottavino was rewarded when Rafael Ortega delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the frame. Ottavino has only one save in August following the trade of David Robertson, but that's more due to a lack of opportunity rather than poor performance -- the veteran righty has a 2.00 ERA and 1.00 WHIP through nine innings on the month, albeit with a lackluster 7:5 K:BB.
