ImpactCanning will take the next step forward in his buildup program as he looks to move past the left groin strain he suffered late in spring training. The injury took him out of contention for a spot in the Angels' season-opening rotation, and Tucker Davidson is in line to replace him the first time the Halos opt to add a sixth starter to the mix.

Brandon Drury - Picks up start versus leftyDrury will start at first base and bat fifth in Sunday's game against the Athletics, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

ImpactAfter taking a seat in Saturday's 13-1 win while a right-hander (Shintaro Fujinami) was on the hill, the righty-hitting Drury will re-enter the lineup against a lefty (Ken Waldichuk). The Angels haven't formally outlined their plans for Drury, but he looks as though he could end up filling the short side of a platoon at first base with the lefty-hitting Jake Lamb while Jared Walsh (head) is on the injured list.

David Fletcher - In Sunday's lineupFletcher (abdomen) is starting at shortstop and batting ninth Sunday against the Athletics, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

ImpactThe 28-year-old dealt with an abdominal injury late in spring training and will make his first start of the season in Sunday's series finale. Fletcher appears to be fully recovered from the injury and should see occasional starts while serving as a reserve infielder this year.

ImpactRendon banged his left knee on the tarp during Saturday's contest and will be held out of the lineup for Sunday's series finale, though it was apparently a pre-planned off day for the veteran third baseman. He's expected to be available off the bench and should be back in the lineup Monday at Seattle. Gio Urshela will slide over to the hot corner with David Fletcher starting at shortstop.
