Luis Rengifo - Exits with elbow contusionRengifo suffered a right elbow contusion in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Athletics.
ImpactHe was hit on the elbow by a pitch and later replaced by a pinch hitter. It sounds like Rengifo dodged a serious injury and is day-to-day going forward. He was sneakily having a strong season at Triple-A and briefly in the majors, so he could play up the middle somewhat regularly if he can continue to produce when he returns to the lineup.

Paul Blackburn - Top five in ERABlackburn gave up one earned run on five hits and two walks while striking out three over 6.2 innings in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Angels. He did not factor in...
ImpactBlackburn certainly pitched well enough to earn his fifth win of the season, but he didn't get the run support. It helped his cause that Mike Trout and Anthony Rendon began the contest on the bench. Blackburn now ranks fifth in the majors with a 1.67 ERA, behind Pablo Lopez, Nestor Cortes, Miles Mikolas and Justin Verlander.

Luis Barrera - Walkoff homerBarrera hit a pinch-hit walkoff three-run home run Saturday in Game 1 of the doubleheader against the Angels.
ImpactHe took Raisel Iglesias deep to the pull side on a hanging breaking ball. Barrera has played roughly half the time since getting called up earlier this week, but he is also an option to enter games off the bench, as he showed with this clutch hit. Chad Pinder and Cristian Pache have left a lot to be desired this season, so Barrera could continue to earn opportunities. He is hitting .300 with one home run, one steal and a 2:2 K:BB in 13 plate appearances.

ImpactLuis Barrera took Iglesias deep on a hanging breaking ball in a 1-1 count. He was pitching on back-to-back days and for the third time in four days. His season ERA is now up to 4.05, but he is secure in his role as the Angels' closer.
