Ramping up at alternate siteRamirez has been throwing at the Angels' alternate training site and could be ready to contribute to the big club if called upon, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ImpactRamirez spent most of spring training with the Reds before being released and then picked up by the Angels. He didn't make the big-league roster out of camp, but he has been with the organization (outside of his brief time with Cincinnati) since 2017, so there isn't much mystery about how he could slot into the big-league bullpen. Ramirez is likely close to the front of the line to be called up to the majors if a spot opens up for a reliever.

Ready if called uponRamos has been throwing at the Angels' alternate training site and would be "close to ready" if summoned to the big club, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ImpactRamos inked a big-league deal with the Angels in late March, so he didn't have time to fully ramp up during spring training. However, the right-hander has been working his arm into shape at the alternate site and now appears to be at least close to capable of throwing in big-league games. Ramos has pitched a mere 2.2 big-league innings since 2018, so it's unclear where he ranks on the organization's reliever depth chart.

Could throw bullpen MondayOhtani (finger) could throw a bullpen session Monday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ImpactOhtani was scratched from his scheduled pitching start for Sunday's game due to a blister, but he could throw once again Monday. It's not yet clear whether the right-hander will throw with a bandage on his finger. Since Ohtani's throwing session would occur Monday, he could miss a full turn through the rotation due to his injury. However, Ohtani has still been able to hit recently and is starting Saturday's game against Toronto as the designated hitter, batting second.

Not starting SaturdayBiggio isn't starting Saturday's game against the Angels.
ImpactBiggio had started each of the first eight games this season and went 4-for-28 with two home runs, five runs and 10 strikeouts. However, Santiago Espinal will start at third base Saturday, batting sixth.

Sent back downTice was optioned to the Blue Jays' alternate training site Saturday.
ImpactTice was called up by the Blue Jays on Friday and allowed one hit and one walk in two scoreless innings during his major-league debut against the Angels. However, he'll return to alternate camp after left-hander Ryan Borucki (illness) was activated from the COVID-19 injured list in a corresponding move.

Recalled by Blue JaysEspinal was recalled by the Blue Jays on Saturday.
ImpactEspinal was unable to break camp with the major-league club this year, but he'll join the big-league roster after Lourdes Gurriel was placed on the COVID-19 injured list due to vaccine-related symptoms Saturday. Since Gurriel will be eligible to return as soon as his symptoms subside, Espinal might not spend much time in the majors.

Activated from injured listBorucki (illness) was reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list Saturday.
ImpactBorucki missed Friday's game due to vaccine-related symptoms, but he'll be available once again Saturday. Ty Tice was sent back down by the Blue Jays in a corresponding move.
