Playing field late in year possible The Dodgers have not ruled out the possibility of Ohtani (elbow) playing the field later in the season, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports. Impact Manager Dave Roberts said Ohtani's sole focus for now is at designated hitter and whether he could be used in the outfield some late in the year will depend on how his throwing program comes along. Ohtani hasn't played the outfield with any regularity since 2014 while in Japan, so the idea that he could be used there less than a year removed from right elbow surgery seems far-fetched, at best. Still, it's interesting that the possibility hasn't been totally nixed.
