Impact Martinez continues to be bothered by a groin/hamstring issue that's bothered him for much of the month, leading to multiple absences. With a doubleheader on tap Saturday, it wouldn't be surprising to see him only play in one of the two games. He's gone 4-for-17 (.235) in August while managing the issue, dropping his slash line for the year to .259/.312/.552 through 91 contests.

Impact Betts got the Dodgers on the board in the first inning with his solo shot. He was replaced by Chris Taylor in the lineup in the fifth -- that's likely a tactical move from manager Dave Roberts with a doubleheader on Saturday and the Dodgers already trailing 10-2 at the time. The long ball snapped Betts' nine-game homer drought, tied for his third-longest of the year. He's at 32 homers (three shy of his career high) with 82 RBI, 99 runs scored, eight stolen bases and a .296/.394/.586 slash line through 115 contests.

Crushed in Friday's loss Gonsolin (8-5) surrendered 10 runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out two over 3.1 innings to take the loss Friday versus the Marlins.
Impact Both starters struggled in this contest, but Gonsolin got caught with more traffic on the bases. He gave up a total of five homers in the contest, including three for multiple runs, in his worst outing of the season. This snapped a three-game winning streak for Gonsolin as well as the Dodgers' 11-game winning streak as a team. He's now at a 4.98 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 82:40 K:BB through 103 innings over 20 starts this year. Gonsolin has alternated good and bad outings over his last five turns, but he's projected for a tough road assignment in Boston his next time out.

Impact Manager Dave Roberts is officially saying it will be a bullpen game in the afternoon contest, but Pepiot is expected to handle the bulk innings, if not start. The young right-hander has posted a 3.47 ERA and 42:27 K:BB over 36.1 innings during his time with the Dodgers this season.

Latches on with Dodgers Wong signed a minor-league contract with the Dodgers on Friday, Bruce Kuntz of Dodgers Digest reports.
Impact Wong was released by the Mariners earlier this month after managing a lowly .165/.241/.227 batting line across 216 plate appearances. His defense at second base has also fallen off, although it's reasonable to believe he could at least rebound in that area. The Dodgers would be responsible only for the prorated veteran minimum salary should Wong eventually be added to the big-league roster, but he'll presumably go to Triple-A Oklahoma City for now.
