Making next rehab start Thursday Syndergaard (finger) is scheduled to make another rehab start for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
Impact Syndergaard's upcoming start will be his third in the minors, and manager Dave Roberts noted Thursday's outing will be the right-hander's final outing before his rehab stint is up. "That's when the rubber meets the road, and we have to make a decision," stated Roberts. If he comes out of the appearance feeling healthy, the Dodgers should activate Syndergaard from the 15-day injured list and would likely give him another chance in the starting rotation, especially with Emmet Sheehan (8.49 ERA over his last five starts) struggling at the back end of late.

Impact Martinez isn't in the starting nine Monday due to tightness in his left hamstring, but he's expected to return to action Tuesday. Slugs grand slam in loss Muncy went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Sunday's 8-4 loss to the Rangers.
Impact Muncy helped the Dodgers cash in a productive first inning against Texas starter Martin Perez. While Muncy hit a grand slam for his third homer in four games, he also struck out three times Sunday. The infielder continues to supply power with little other contact -- he's slashing .196/.327/.477 with 24 homers, 63 RBI, 57 runs scored and a stolen base while also striking out at a career-worst 27.8 percent rate through 81 games.

Suffers first loss Sheehan (3-1) allowed eight runs on eight hits and five walks while striking out four over 3.2 innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Rangers.
Impact There's only one positive to take out of this -- Sheehan avoided allowing a home run. Beyond that, it was the worst start of his young career against arguably the most dangerous offense he's faced so far. He's given up at least four runs in each of his three outings in July after allowing just five total runs over 17 innings in his first three career starts. Sheehan has a 6.75 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 22:16 K:BB through 29.1 innings overall. He's tentatively lined up for a home start versus the Reds next weekend, but he could be at risk of losing his place in the rotation if the Dodgers pursue starting pitchers at the trade deadline.
