Another start at second base Betts is starting at second base again Friday versus the Angels.

Impact It's his 19th start of the year at second and his sixth start there in the Dodgers' last 12 games. Betts has also made 12 starts at shortstop this season while both Miguel Vargas and Miguel Rojas continue to struggle offensively.

Set for rehab assignment Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Friday that Syndergaard (finger) will soon head out on a minor-league rehab assignment, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Impact Syndergaard passed his final side-work test Friday afternoon at Dodger Stadium with a successful three-inning simulated game. Out since early June with a finger blister -- and a 7.16 season ERA -- he'll have to show encouraging results on the farm in order to earn another chance in the Los Angeles rotation. It figures to be a lengthy rehab stint.

Impact Muncy has gone 7-for-28 (.250) over his last eight contests while smacking two homers and adding six RBI in that span. His blast Thursday was his 20th of the campaign -- a mark he's reached in each of the last five full seasons. Impact Freeman provided an early two-run blast in the first inning and added an RBI single in the seventh. The first baseman remains hot -- he's gone 16-for-46 (.348) over his last 11 homers, though his homer Thursday was his first since June 21. Freeman has 15 long balls, 30 doubles, 12 steals, 57 RBI, 68 runs scored and a .320/.397/.542 slash line through 87 contests this year.

Fires perfect inning for save Vesia struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Pirates.

Impact It was clean work for Vesia in his return to the major-league roster after two weeks at Triple-A Oklahoma City. He'd given up six runs (five earned) over 3.2 innings across his five appearances prior to getting sent down, but he was sharp in his return. Save chances are likely to be sparse for Vesia -- Evan Phillips had pitched three times between July 2-4, so he was likely getting a little extra rest. Brusdar Graterol picked up a hold in the eighth inning and Caleb Ferguson should also be in the mix for saves, which will likely keep Vesia in a middle-relief role. He has a 7.20 ERA, 2.30 WHIP and 31:12 K:BB through 20 innings this season while adding three holds and an 0-4 record.

Strikes out eight in win Urias (6-5) allowed two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out eight over six innings to earn the win Thursday over the Pirates.

Impact Urias gave up five runs over three innings in his return from a hamstring injury, but he was much sharper in his second start back. The southpaw threw 59 of 88 pitches for strikes to pick up a quality start. He's now at a 4.76 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 63:14 K:BB through 64.1 innings over 12 starts this season. He's had a couple of rough patches in the first half, so he'll be looking for a longer stretch of consistently good pitching after the All-Star break.
