Chase Field
Chase Field, Phoenix, AZ
Michael Busch - Makes first pro start in LFBusch made his first professional start in left field for Double-A Tulsa on Wednesday.
ImpactBusch has played primarily at second base during his minor-league career, though he has also seen time at first base and at DH. If he is able to handle the new position well, it could open a door to a big-league debut later this season, as outfield depth is arguably the Dodgers' biggest non-pitching need. Busch has certainly shown that he is capable at the plate -- he is slashing .305/.468/.746 with eight home runs, 19 RBI and a 17:19 BB:K in 79 plate appearances this season.

Nick Ahmed - Pops first homerAhmed went 1-for-3 with a solo home run Wednesday against the Dodgers.
ImpactAhmed took Julio Urias yard in the fifth inning to record his first homer of the season. He was sidelined by a shoulder injury for the first two weeks of the campaign, and he's been in the lineup in four of six games since. Ahmed has been a light hitter throughout his career, though he does have two extra-base hits in only 12 plate appearances to begin his 2022 season.

Mark Melancon - Closes out another gameMelancon struck out one and did not allow a baserunner in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save Wednesday against the Dodgers.
ImpactMelancon entered the game with a two-run lead and retired the side in order on 11 pitches to record his fourth save of the season. He's now closed out consecutive games, not allowing a hit in either appearance. Melancon has struck out only three hitters across eight innings but has turned in seven scoreless appearances early on in the campaign.

Zac Gallen - Six shutout innings against DodgersGallen allowed two hits and two walks while striking out five across six scoreless innings Wednesday against the Dodgers. He did not factor into the decision.
ImpactGallen matched Julio Urias in a pitcher's duel Wednesday, though he ultimately lost out on a chance for the win after exiting the game with a 1-0 lead. He didn't generate a high number of strikeouts or swinging strikes, but he avoided any major mistakes by limiting the Dodgers to only one extra-base hit. Gallen has allowed one earned run across his first three starts and 15 innings, which amounts to a 0.60 ERA. While he'll get touched up at points in the season, Gallen's skills have backed up the excellent stretch as he's maintained a 14:4 K:BB, and he has yet to allow a home run.

Julio Urías - Limits DiamondbacksUrias allowed one earned run on one hit and two walks while striking out four across six innings Wednesday against Arizona. He did not factor into the decision.
ImpactUrias allowed only one hit, though it was a solo home run to Nick Ahmed. That robbed him of the chance to earn a win, as he was engaged in a pitcher's duel with Zac Gallen. After a shaky opening start, Urias has allowed only two earned runs across his last 16 innings and three starts. The Dodgers' desire to limit his workload -- he has not thrown more than 75 pitches in any outing -- and 4.0 BB/9 are causes for concern, but his results remain strong.
