Could have thoracic outlet syndromeRosenthal (shoulder) visited vascular surgeon Dr. Gregory Pearl in Dallas on Tuesday, who specializes in treating thoracic outlet syndrome, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
ImpactThe 33-year-old landed on the 10-day injured list on Opening Day with right shoulder inflammation, but it appears he could be dealing with a much more serious injury. It remains unclear if the right-hander is expected to require a procedure, and the A's are expected to provide more information Wednesday. ImpactRosenthal saw a doctor in Dallas on Tuesday so that he could be evaluated after his initial treatment to see what the next step should be. For now, it seems like a bit of a committee at the back of the bullpen, with Sergio Romo and Jake Diekman seeming like the most likely closing options while Rosenthal is out.

Out with bruised kneeOlson has a knee contusion, which is why he is out of Tuesday's lineup against the Dogers, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ImpactHe suffered the injury while sliding in to the wall chasing a foul ball. An MRI showed no structural damage, so Olson should be considered day-to-day. Tony Kemp is starting at second base, Jed Lowrie is starting at DH and Mitch Moreland is starting at first base with Olson getting the day off.
