Lawrence Butler - Picks up ninth stealButler went 0-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Dodgers.
ImpactButler was hitless for the third time in four contests, but he was still able to pick up his ninth steal of the year. Since taking over the leadoff spot July 13, Butler has gone 24-for-70 (.343) over 17 contests, though he's now gone four games without a multi-hit effort. He's at a .246/.312/.466 slash line with 12 home runs, 35 RBI, 34 runs scored, 12 doubles and two triples over 79 games this season. His 27.7 percent strikeout rate is a bit lofty for the leadoff role, but he's displayed enough contact ability to be passable atop Oakland's order with few better options available.

Miguel Andujar - Logs third stealAndujar went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Dodgers.
ImpactAndujar has gone 9-for-20 (.450) over his last five contests while seeing a starting role in left field. His steal Sunday was just his third theft on five attempts -- the outfielder's career high in stolen bases is four from the 2022 campaign, so speed is not a big part of his game. He's been good from a contact standpoint this year, slashing .300/.327/.408 with four home runs, 28 RBI, 27 runs scored, 12 doubles and a triple over 59 contests, but he offers little in power or speed while regularly batting second in a weak lineup.

Brent Rooker - Lifts long ball in lossRooker went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Dodgers.
ImpactRooker was responsible for the Athletics' only scoring play of the day when he took River Ryan deep in the first inning. With 10 homers over his last 17 contests -- a span in which he's batting .328 (21-for-64) with 25 RBI -- Rooker is providing power at an elite level. The slugger is up to 28 long balls, 81 RBI, 55 runs scored, seven stolen bases and a .290/.365/.591 slash line through 98 games this season.

Osvaldo Bido - Stuck with loss SundayBido (2-3) allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits and three walks while striking out six over six innings, taking the loss Sunday versus the Dodgers.
ImpactBido earned his first quality start with his longest outing of the year, but he wasn't able to avoid his second loss in a row. The right-hander avoided giving up a home run in a third straight start, but he's posted a 12:7 K:BB over his last 9.2 innings, and it will be tough for him to find steady success if his walk rate remains high. For the year, he's at a 4.64 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 34:18 K:BB over 33 innings across 10 appearances (four starts). He's tentatively projected to make his next start at Toronto.

Jason Heyward - Records steal in winHeyward went 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Athletics.
ImpactHeyward has gone 7-for-32 (.219) over his last 11 games, though that's a small improvement over his .207 batting average for the year. The steal was his fourth of the year and his first since June 22. The outfielder has added a .686 OPS, five home runs, 24 RBI, 22 runs scored, eight doubles and two triples over 174 plate appearances, mainly in a strong-side platoon role in right field.

Anthony Banda - Collects first saveBanda struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Athletics.
ImpactBanda got the save opportunity after all of Evan Phillips, Blake Treinen, Alex Vesia and Daniel Hudson were deployed between the fifth and eighth innings. It was a drama-free experience for Banda, who needed just 12 pitches (nine strikes) to retire the side. Hudson, who has been the favorite for saves lately, pitched against the heart of the Athletics' order in the eighth inning. Bullpen depth has been a strength for the Dodgers this year, and Banda's been a successful part of that with a 2.16 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 34:14 K:BB over 33.1 innings while adding five holds and a 1-1 record. Banda is still more likely to work in low-leverage spots, but Sunday's outing is proof he can handle bigger moments.
