Phil Bickford - Picks up first career saveBickford earned the save against the Pirates on Thursday by tossing a perfect inning that included one strikeout.

ImpactIt wasn't quite the ordinary save for Bickford, who was actually in line to earn a hold after entering the seventh with the Dodgers leading by two. Following his successful inning, a long rain delay turned into a called game, gifting Bickford with his first career save as he became the sixth Dodger to earn a save this year. The right-hander was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on May 23 as a replacement for Jimmy Nelson (forearm) and is expected to be primarily used in lower-leverage situations.

ImpactReynolds brought the Pirates within one run by taking Julio Urias deep in the third inning. It was his team-leading 10th long ball of the season and his second of the series. Overall this year, Reynolds is batting a healthy .284/.389/.507.

Mitch Keller - Short outing in lossKeller (3-7) was charged with the loss Thursday against the Dodgers after surrendering four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three across 2.2 innings.

ImpactCommand issues seemed to plague Keller this time around. After giving up a leadoff homer to Mookie Betts in the first, Keller ran in a troublesome three-run third inning which he was unable to finish. The right-hander, who had previously only hit three batters in his career, struck two alone in the third frame. The mess piled on as opposing starter Julio Urias hit a bases-loaded, two-run single after Keller went 3-0 on Austin Barnes and intentionally walked him. That would be it for Keller, who fell victim to his second abbreviated outing in a row. The 25-year-old had left his last start Friday due to a heat-related illness before landing on the COVID-19 injured list Sunday. Keller will look to bounce back during his next projected start Tuesday at Washington.

Mookie Betts - Cranks sixth homerBetts went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk, a stolen base and another run scored during Thursday's win over the Pirates.

ImpactBetts got the scoring started with a leadoff homer against Mitch Keller in the first inning. He also walked in the second frame, then singled, stole second and scored again in the eighth. Not a bad game for the speedy outfielder, who has collected six homers and six steals while slowly but surely heating up with a .255/.366/.447 slash line.

Julio Urías - Tallies ninth winUrias (9-2) picked up the win Thursday after holding the Pirates to three runs on six hits and no walks while striking out five over six innings.

ImpactMost of his damage came via a two-run long ball to Bryan Reynolds in the third inning. It was otherwise a strong outing with solid command for Urias, who did not issue any free passes for the sixth time this year. It's worth noting that the 24-year-old helped his own cause for the win by knocking in a bases-loaded, two-run single against Mitch Keller in the third inning. Since the beginning of May, Urias has fanned 54 batters and walked five over eight appearances. The southpaw lines up to make his next start at home Tuesday against the Phillies.
