Freddie Freeman - Nabs 15th stealFreeman went 1-for-4 with one RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 8-3 loss to the Padres.
ImpactFreeman didn't run much for the bulk of July, but he's now logged three steals over his last six games to get to 15 thefts on the year. He's hit .386 (44-for-114) since the start of July, even better than his .337 batting average for the season. The first baseman has added a 1.003 OPS, 22 home runs, 77 RBI, 95 runs scored, 40 doubles and two triples through 109 games.

Chris Taylor - Snags two stealsTaylor went 0-for-3 with a walk, two stolen bases and a run scored in Saturday's 8-3 loss to the Padres.
ImpactTaylor made the most of his trip on base, stealing second and third before scoring on a sacrifice fly in the second inning. The utility man continues to provide coverage at multiple positions, most recently spelling Max Muncy (wrist) at third base over the last two games. For the season, Taylor is up to nine steals while slashing a shaky .216/.297/.428 with 12 home runs, 37 RBI and 35 runs scored through 77 contests. He's hit safely in 10 of his last 13 games, going 11-for-44 (.250) with nine walks in that span.

Will Smith - Homer and steal in lossSmith went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and a stolen base in Saturday's 8-3 loss to the Padres.
ImpactSmith has hit safely in four straight games, and he's driven in a run in each of them. The homer was his first since July 7, while the steal was his second of the campaign. The catcher is slashing .276/.384/.474 with 14 long balls, 56 RBI, 57 runs scored and 17 doubles through 85 contests overall.

Ryan Yarbrough - Covers bulk inningsYarbrough allowed a run on three hits and struck out three without walking a batter over 4.1 innings as the bulk reliever in Saturday's 8-3 loss to the Padres. He did not factor in...
ImpactYarbrough's no stranger to working behind an opener in his career, and the Dodgers appear to want to continue that, at least for now. It worked in his team debut, though the bullpen couldn't maintain the lead after an eighth-inning meltdown. Yarbrough has started seven of his 15 appearances this season, posting a 4.07 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 32:9 K:BB through 55.1 innings while earning a 4-5 record. With Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) expected back next week, Yarbrough may have to settle for a more traditional multi-inning relief role unless the Dodgers want to go with something resembling a six-man rotation.

Michael Grove - Functions as opener SaturdayGrove allowed a hit and struck out four without walking a batter over 1.1 scoreless innings Saturday versus the Padres. He did not factor in the decision.
ImpactGrove was announced as the starter, but it ended up being more of an opener situation, with Ryan Yarbrough following him with 4.1 innings in bulk relief. That kind of arrangement may be the only way Grove sticks on the major-league roster in the near term. He was touched up for eight runs over six innings in his last start and still carries a 6.61 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 67:18 K:BB through 64 innings this season. While his strikeout numbers are solid, he'd likely be limited to low-leverage situations if he ends up as a traditional reliever going forward.

Manny Machado - Fuels comeback SaturdayMachado went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, two additional RBI and two total runs scored in Saturday's 8-3 win over the Dodgers.
ImpactMachado got the Padres on the board with a fourth-inning solo shot and added a two-run single in the eighth to put them ahead for good. The third baseman has been consistent but not flashy of late, hitting safely in 12 of his last 15 games while batting .268 (15-for-56) in that span. He's up to a .259/.320/.465 slash line with 21 homers, 65 RBI, 54 runs scored and three stolen bases over 95 contests for the year.
AUGUST 6, 2023ROTOWIRE
Blake Snell - Strikes out eight in no-decisionSnell allowed three runs on four hits and four walks while striking out eight over five innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Saturday.
ImpactSnell's impressive run of 13 starts without allowing more than two runs came to a close, though it happened against a tough division rival. The southpaw was in line for the loss until the Padres rallied ahead in the eighth inning. Snell's 1.30 WHIP and 164:72 K:BB aren't the most encouraging marks, but he's allowed just 12 homers in 23 starts this season to offset an ugly 5.2 BB/9. That's helped him maintain a 2.61 ERA through 124 innings on the year. Snell is lined up for another challenging start on the road in Arizona during next weekend's series.
