Impact Boyd had been scheduled to start Tuesday against St. Louis, but that entire four-game midweek series was scrapped due to the Cardinals' coronavirus outbreak. The Tigers will use the unexpected days off to reset their rotation, going with their Opening Day starter for their first day back in action. Boyd has failed to impress in either of his first two starts of the season, allowing eight runs on 15 hits over 10 innings of work.

Scheduled start postponed Boyd will not make his scheduled start Tuesday against St. Louis as the series has been postponed due to the Cardinals' coronavirus outbreak, Mark Saxon of The Athletic reports.
Impact 13 members of the Cardinals organization have tested positive for the virus, including seven players. The Tigers have yet to announce their rotation plans for their weekend series in Pittsburgh, which remains on the schedule, but Boyd presumably will start Friday's game.

Impact Boyd had a similar line to his first start of the season, when he also allowed four earned runs across five innings. Like in that outing, the lefty struggled early against Kansas City, as the Royals did all of their damage in the first three innings before Boyd recorded two scoreless innings to end his night. The silver lining Tuesday was that Boyd had more swing-and-miss stuff, as he only recorded two strikeouts in his last start. Boyd will look to pitch better early in the game his next time out Monday against the Cardinals.

Impact This line is disappointing and it could have been worse. Boyd allowed five straight hitters to reach base -- walk, single, HBP, HBP, single -- before he recorded his first out. The lefty managed to limit the damage to two runs in that first inning, but he later gave up a homer to Joey Votto and the swing-and-miss stuff was just not there in this one. Fortunately, Boyd is in good position to bounce back with a home start against Kansas City next on the docket.
