Making rehab start Saturday Fried (forearm/illness) will make his next rehab start with Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday, Grant McAuley of 929 The Game reports.

Impact Fried had been slated to start for Gwinnett on Wednesday but had to be scratched due to a stomach bug. Saturday's rehab outing is expected to be his last before rejoining Atlanta's rotation. That would appear to set him up to start Aug. 4 against the Cubs, although the team has not confirmed that date yet.

Impact It won't be Friday, though, as Michael Soroka will be taking the ball for Triple-A Gwinnett. Fried had been scheduled to make his final rehab start for Gwinnett on Wednesday but was scratched from that outing because he was under the weather. Presumably, the illness will push back the left-hander's return to the Atlanta rotation at least a few days, although a return date for Fried has not yet been identified.

Impact Fried made his last rehab start Friday and tossed 65 pitches over 3.1 innings with the Triple-A club. His start in the minors Wednesday could be his final tune-up before he's cleared to rejoin the major-league club. The southpaw made five starts with Atlanta before landing on the injured list in early May, and he posted a 2.08 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in 26 innings.

Impact After estimating that he threw around 30 pitches Tuesday in a live batting practice session, Fried bumped his workload up a bit in his first rehab start, tossing 35 pitches (18 strikes). According to Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Fried averaged around 94 miles per hour with his four-seam fastball and topped out at 96 mph, with those readings sitting roughly in line with his velocity before he landed on the injured list May 9 with a left forearm strain. Fried will likely need two more rehab starts to build up his pitch count before potentially slotting back into the Atlanta rotation in the final week of July.
