Impact Meyer was originally slated to make his next start Sunday against Philadelphia. However, his move to the IL will keep him sidelined for multiple turns through the rotation, meaning the 25-year-old righty likely only has one or two starts left in the season, even in a best-case scenario. The Marlins have yet to name a replacement for Meyer in their starting rotation.

Impact Four of the five runs charged to Meyer came via the home-run ball. The right-hander gave up a three-run blast to Joey Gallo in the fourth inning before Keibert Ruiz added a solo shot in the sixth. The long ball has been an issue for Meyer of late -- he's now given up seven in his last four outings (20.2 innings). Overall, the 25-year-old Meyer sports a 5.68 ERA through 57 innings this year with a 1.42 WHIP and 46:19 K:BB. He's currently slated for a tough home matchup with the Phillies this weekend in his next start.

Hit with fourth loss Meyer (3-4) took the loss against Colorado on Wednesday, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out six.

Impact Meyer went 1-2-3 through the opening frame before allowing the leadoff man to reach in each of the next two innings, leading to two runs coming home for Colorado - though only one of those runs would be charged to him on account of a fielding error by Cristian Pache in the third. Meyer would also go on to surrender a solo homer in the fifth and was later relieved by Kent Emanuel in the sixth after failing to retire the first two batters. On a positive note, the 25-year-old did generate 18 whiffs in the contest while logging his second-highest strikeout total this month. However, Meyer has now lost four of his six starts in August, posting a 7.42 ERA over that stretch. He's also coughed up at least one homer in three straight outings.

Impact Meyer looked good on Friday, registering his first quality start since April 13. The 25-year-old had struggled since being called up on July 27, pitching to an 8.10 ERA and allowing four or more runs in his last four games prior to Friday. Meyer will not be facing an inning's restriction the rest of the way and should be given plenty of opportunities to find his footing.

In five outings since returning to the big-league rotation in late July, Meyer has stumbled to an 8.10 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 19:9 K:BB through 23.1 innings, but the Marlins will let him work through his growing pains. The 25-year-old lines up to make his next start at home next weekend against the Cubs.

Victorious against Padres Meyer (3-2) picked up the win Sunday against San Diego, allowing four runs on seven hits and no walks across 6.1 innings. He struck out four.

Impact Meyer retired the first nine batters he faced Sunday and kept the Padres scoreless until the fifth inning. However, the 25-year-old yielded an extra-base hit and at least one run in each of his final three frames, resulting in his third consecutive start with at least three earned runs. On a more positive note, Meyer didn't allow a homer after allowing five long balls in his previous three outings. Through 36.1 innings, Meyer has a 5.20 ERA, a 1.27 WHIP and a 30:9 K:BB. He's tentatively scheduled to face the Mets for his next start.

Impact It was a tough night for Meyer, who allowed runs in both the second and third innings before the Reds put up a four spot in the fourth. Impact Meyer last pitched with Jacksonville on July 20 and the Marlins have an opening in their rotation Saturday, so it would make sense for him to take the ball that day. The young right-hander was sent down back in April as a means to manage his workload, and he's pitched well at Jacksonville of late in allowing just two runs with a 23:6 K:BB over 19 innings covering his last four starts. Meyer has averaged 77.5 pitches in those outings, with a high of 86, and the Marlins will continue to keep a close eye on his workload down the stretch. Even with likely restrictions, Meyer is worthy of being scooped back up in fantasy leagues where he's available. He posted a 2.12 ERA and 14:3 K:BB over 17 frames in three starts for the Marlins earlier this season.

Strikes out seven in Triple-A start Meyer started and covered 3.1 innings for Triple-A Jacksonville in Saturday's 3-2 win over Durham, striking out seven while allowing one earned run on six hits and one walk.

Impact The Marlins will need a fifth starter for the first time in the second half Tuesday versus the Orioles, but Meyer's appearance for the Triple-A club over the weekend takes him out of the mix for a call-up. Meyer could still be promoted to the big leagues at some point in the near future, but the Marlins have thus far been reluctant to tip their hand regarding when exactly their top pitching prospect might return to the majors. The right-hander broke camp with the big club and turned in a 2.12 ERA and 0.82 WHIP in 17 innings over his first three starts, but he was demoted to Triple-A on April 15 and has remained there ever since. He posted underwhelming numbers in his first two months at Jacksonville while sticking to a strict once-a-week pitching schedule, but he's settled in nicely since the beginning of July, logging a 0.95 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 23:6 K:BB over 19 innings.

Impact It's a bit unsavory, especially given the caliber of pitchers the Marlins were willing to use in the big-league rotation while Meyer was at Triple-A for the past three months. After throwing five-plus innings in three big-league starts to begin the season, Meyer had been capped at four innings or less in his first 10 starts for Triple-A Jacksonville. He threw a minor-league season-high six innings for the Jumbo Shrimp on July 9 and logged five scoreless frames July 14, so he is fully stretched out. Given the incentives in place, it's quite possible Meyer rejoins the big-league rotation for good next week.
