Returns to alternate site Viloria was optioned to the alternate training site Friday, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.

Impact Viloria joined the Royals with Salvador Perez (eye) sidelined, and he received 21 at-bats over 15 games in his time with the team. Perez returns from the injured list Friday with Cam Gallagher set to work as the reserve catcher.

Impact Since being recalled from the Royals' taxi squad Aug. 16, Viloria has started in seven of the team's 23 games, going 4-for-21 at the dish.
