Rogers has changed the grip on his slider this offseason as he looks to sharpen a pitch that carried an xSLG of .452 in 2021. "Trev's a lot further along than in the past," manager Don Mattingly said after watching Rogers pitch against Triple-A hitters on a backfield Sunday. "He's got a purpose. What he's wanting to do with his slider right now, what he's trying to do with his fastball right now, knowing that all these pieces are going to start fitting together." Rogers posted a 2.64 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 28.5 percent strikeout rate over 133 innings last year as he established himself as a key part of the Marlins' young rotation.

Jordan Holloway - Reports to Jacksonville The Marlins optioned Holloway to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Impact Holloway moved up and down between the big leagues and Triple-A throughout the 2021 campaign, ultimately finishing with a 4.00 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in 36 innings over 13 appearances with Miami. Though he served as more of a swingman during his various stints with the Marlins, Holloway is expected to work primarily as a starter while he's in Jacksonville.

Daniel Castano - Goes to Triple-A The Marlins optioned Castano to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Impact Castano is expected to slot into Jacksonville's rotation after he made 14 starts for the affiliate in 2021. Injuries opened the door for Castano to make five appearances -- including four starts -- with the big club last season, but he underwhelmed with a 4.87 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 13:8 K:BB across 20.1 innings.

Impact After finishing out the 2021 season in the minors, Garrett faced an uphill battle to crack the Opening Day rotation, so his demotion Monday comes as little surprise. He should be able to pick up regular starts at Jacksonville to begin the 2022 campaign and could be one of the first pitchers in line for a call-up when injuries inevitably hit the big-league rotation.

Impact Campbell was one of four pitchers on the 40-man roster that the Marlins dispatched to minor-league camp Monday, as Braxton Garrett, Jordan Holloway and Daniel Castano also received the boot. Impact Early in the offseason, Rojas was sent in for an MRI after sustaining an apparent injury to a finger on his left hand, but he seemingly avoided surgery and reported to spring training at full health. He'll be making his second appearance of the spring, after previously playing Saturday and going 1-for-2 with a double and a walk in a 10-2 win over the Astros.
