Zach Thompson - Hit hard in sixth loss Thompson (2-6) took the loss Friday, giving up five runs (three earned) on six hits and a walk over five innings as the Marlins were dropped 6-0 by the Reds. He struck out one.
Impact The right-hander got no help from his offense or his defense, but this loss was all on Thompson as all six of the hits off him went for extra bases, including a Tyler Naquin solo shot in the first inning. Thompson has only one quality start in his last eight outings, but he's managed a solid 3.72 ERA and 1.19 WHIP despite a mediocre 21:15 K:BB through 38.2 innings over that stretch.
