Orioles OF Cedric Mullins leaves game in 2nd inning with right quadriceps tightness

Orioles outfielder Cedric Mullins has left Baltimore's game against Miami in the second inning with right quadriceps tightness
JULY 16, 2023ASSOCIATED PRESS
Cedric Mullins - Nursing quad tightnessMullins was lifted from Saturday's game against the Marlins in the second inning due to right quad tightness, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.
ImpactMullins came up lame while running from first base to third base on a foul ball and had to be removed for a pinch runner. The Orioles could offer more on a potential timetable for the outfielder after the game, but it would certainly seem to be an injury capable of sending Mullins to the injured list.

Cedric Mullins - Exits game with injuryMullins was removed from Saturday's game versus the Marlins with an apparent injury, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
ImpactMullins appeared to tweak something while running from first to third on a foul ball hit by Jordan Westburg in the second inning and was replaced by a pinch-runner. He missed nearly a month of action earlier this season with a groin injury, although it's not clear if that's what he's dealing with this time around.

Trevor Rogers - Not yet ready to throwThe Marlins announced Friday that Rogers (lat/biceps) has resumed active range of motion in his right shoulder, but he still hasn't been cleared to resume throwing, MLB.com reports...
ImpactRogers was initially placed on the injured list April 21 due to a strain of the biceps in his (left) throwing arm, but rehabbing the lat strain to his non-throwing arm -- which he sustained during a rehab assignment in early June -- appears to be the greater priority at the moment. Now that he's regained range of motion in his right shoulder, Rogers may not have to wait long before he's able to start playing catch again, though the Marlins haven't offered up a timeline for when that might happen. Whenever he's deemed ready to begin a throwing program, Rogers could need around a month to complete his progression, so fantasy managers probably shouldn't count on him returning from the 60-day IL until around mid-August.

Andrew Nardi - Cleared to play catchNardi (triceps) was spotted playing catch Friday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ImpactNardi is with the Marlins on their road trip to open their second-half schedule, but he may need to report to a minor-league affiliate for a brief rehab assignment once he advances further along in his throwing program. Miami placed the reliever on the 15-day injured list July 4 with left triceps inflammation.

Tommy Nance - Completes side sessionNance (shoulder) threw a 15-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ImpactNance has resided on the injured list all season due to a right shoulder strain, though he was able to make a minor-league rehab appearance May 12 before being shut down following a setback. He's beginning to ramp up again and will likely need to complete a few more side sessions before eventually graduating to facing hitters in live batting practice and then restarting a rehab assignment. Nance may face an uphill battle to make it back from the IL before the end of July.

Avisaíl García - Takes BPGarcia (back) took batting practice Friday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ImpactAccording to MLB.com, Garcia was able to participate in batting practice July 7, so he hasn't yet taken a meaningful step forward in terms of activity coming out of the All-Star break. The outfielder has been shelved since late April with back tightness, but he was able to appear in four rehab games from May 29 through June 2 before experiencing a setback and being shut down. While it's encouraging that Garcia is swinging the bat again, he hasn't been cleared to restart a rehab assignment yet, and he'll likely need several games in the minors to get his timing back at the plate before the Marlins are comfortable with activating him from the 10-day injured list.
