Elias Díaz - Goes deep againDiaz went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run Thursday against the Marlins.
ImpactDiaz took Braxton Garrett deep in the sixth inning for his sixth homer of the season and second in as many games. He's clearly taken over as the top catcher in Colorado across the first two months of the season, though Diaz was in the lineup as the designated hitter Thursday with a southpaw on the mound and Charlie Blackmon on the bench. That could be a continuing path to extra playing time for Diaz, who has maintained a very impressive .398 wOBA across 164 plate appearances to this point in the campaign.

Nolan Jones - Promotion expectedJones is likely to be promoted to the majors to replace Brenton Doyle (knee) on Friday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
ImpactJones made the big-league roster to start the regular season but was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque in mid-April. He's maintained an impressive 183 wrC+ and .505 wOBA since, so he's earned a second look in the majors. Either he or Randal Grichuk figures to be the primary beneficiary of Doyle's absence.

Garrett Cooper - Ties game with pinch-hit homerCooper went 1-for-1 with a two-run homer in Thursday's loss to the Rockies.
ImpactCooper started the day on the bench after going 2-for-26 in his last six games. However, he'd pinch-hit for Nick Fortes with two outs in the ninth and blasted a two-run, game-tying home run off Pierce Johnson. It's Cooper's fifth homer of the season and just his second since April 9. He's now slashing .239/.280/.403 with 19 RBI through 143 plate appearances this year.

Jonathan Davis - Three hits, triple in Marlins debutDavis went 3-for-3 with a triple, two walks and a run scored in Thursday's 7-6 loss to the Rockies.
ImpactDavis, making his first start in Miami, reached base safely in all five of his plate appearances, including a triple off Kyle Freeland in the fourth inning. The 31-year-old outfielder was brought up to fill a depth role with the Marlins, though he could see some playing time with Avisail Garcia (back), Jesus Sanchez (hamstring) and Jazz Chisholm (toe) all on the IL. Davis had 91 plate appearances with the Brewers last season, where he slashed .224/.344/.237 with seven stolen bases.

Jorge Soler - Tallies three hits, homer in lossSoler went 3-for-5 with a homer, two RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's loss against the Rockies.
ImpactSoler cut the Marlins' deficit to 6-4 with a two-run shot off Pierce Johnson in the ninth inning, his 15th homer of the season. The three-hit performance was Soler's fourth multi-hit effort in his last five games -- he's gone 11-for-23 with four homers and eight RBI in that span. With his recent torrid stretch, Soler is slashing .261/.337/.560 with 32 RBI and 29 runs scored through 205 plate appearances this season.

Kyle Freeland - Bounces back in no-decisionFreeland did not factor into the decision Thursday, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings against Miami. He struck out four.
ImpactIt was a solid rebound for Freeland after he allowed eighth runs (five earned) over two innings in his last start against Texas. His last outing aside, Freeland has been solid of late, allowing two runs or less in four of his last five starts. The 30-year-old lefty is 4-5 this season with a solid 3.86 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 42:14 K:BB through 11 starts (58.1 innings) this season.
