Steven Okert - Dealing with adductor issueOkert was held out of action Wednesday in Marlins camp because of an adductor issue, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
ImpactIt's something Okert has dealt with in the past and the Marlins didn't want to push him this close to Opening Day. It sounds like they feel he will be fine after a bit of rest and treatment. The 32-year-old right-hander projects to operate in middle relief for Miami this season.

ImpactChargois is already making progress with the neck trouble, and Schumaker believes he will be able to return to action for Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Astros. The right-hander is expected to be a middle-innings option for Miami to begin the 2023 campaign.

Kyle Tucker - Ankle injury considered minorAstros general manager Dana Brown said Wednesday that Tucker's ankle sprain is considered minor, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ImpactTucker tweaked his ankle while playing for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic, but he was examined by Astros personnel at their spring training complex Wednesday and doesn't appear to be at much risk of missing Opening Day. It's not clear if he'll be able to play in any of the Astros' remaining four Grapefruit League games, however.

Hunter Brown - Scratched as precautionBrown (back) was scratched from his Grapefruit League start Wednesday against the Mets as a precaution, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ImpactBrown experienced some lower-back tightness while doing agility drills Tuesday in Astros camp and the team didn't want to risk an aggravation. The talented 24-year-old right-hander could perhaps fit in one final exhibition outing as he prepares to open the 2023 season as the No. 5 starter in Houston. There doesn't seem to be any current worry about an IL stint.

Jose Altuve - Facing two-plus-month absenceThe Astros announced Altuve underwent right thumb surgery Wednesday in Houston and general manager Dana Brown confirmed the second baseman won't be able to resume baseball activiti...
ImpactAltuve fractured the thumb after he was hit by a pitch Saturday while playing for Team Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic. With the infielder likely out through the end of May and possibly the early part of June while he rehabs from surgery, David Hensley and Mauricio Dubon are expected to serve as the Astros' primary options at second base.

Kyle Tucker - Having ankle checked outTucker is scheduled to report to the Astros' facility in West Palm Beach, Fla. on Wednesday to have his ankle looked at, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ImpactTucker was unable to play for Team USA in Tuesday's World Baseball Classic loss to Team Japan because of ankle soreness. Astros manager Dusty Baker told Rome that the outfielder was doing "better" a day later, but the skipper wanted the Houston training staff to look at the ankle first before determining Tucker's next steps. Tucker should be considered day-to-day at this point, but there should be further clarity on the extent of injury by the weekend.
