Matthew Liberatore - Optioned to Triple-A levelLiberatore was optioned to Triple-A Memphis by the Cardinals on Tuesday.
ImpactSt. Louis has enjoyed a fairly healthy spring, which means that Liberatore will head back to the minors to work on his craft. Adam Wainwright, Miles Mikolas, Jordan Montgomery, Jack Flaherty and Steven Matz will make up the season-opening starting rotation for the reigning NL Central champs.

Dakota Hudson - Optioned to MemphisHudson was optioned to Triple-A Memphis by the Cardinals on Tuesday.
ImpactHudson had allowed six earned runs on 17 hits and four walks through 8.2 innings this spring in Grapefruit League play, which works out to a 6.23 ERA and 2.42 WHIP. The 28-year-old right-hander posted a 3.14 ERA across his first 249.2 major-league innings between 2018-2021, but the underlying metrics have always been poor and his stock continues to drastically tumble. He'll presumably work out of the rotation with Memphis.

Johnny Cueto - Dealing with arm sorenessCueto has his back-field work skipped Monday due to what the Marlins are labeling as general arm soreness, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ImpactManager Skip Schumaker indicated the team isn't concerned, however. "This is a time where there's no reason to push through this general soreness," Schumaker said. "We're [about] a week away. If he needs another extra day, you give people extra days and that's the value of spring training. You're allowed to do that." More worrisome for the Marlins might be Cueto's performance so far this spring -- the 37-year-old got tagged for 11 runs in 3.2 innings over two starts before leaving camp for the WBC, and he wasn't much better in one start for the Dominican Republic, coughing up three runs over two innings in his only appearance. Cueto is still penciled into a spot in the Opening Day rotation, but if Miami determines he needs more time to round into shape, it could open the door for Braxton Garrett to get a start or two in April. Cueto is currently set to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, and if all goes well he could see game action as soon as Friday.

Tyler O'Neill - Expected back in lineup WednesdayO'Neill (illness) is expected to return to Grapefruit League action Wednesday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
ImpactO'Neill came down with a stomach virus after returning from a strong stint with Team Canada in the World Baseball Classic, but he felt well enough to taking batting practice and shag flyballs Tuesday morning in Cardinals camp. The 27-year-old should be an everyday player out of the gate this season for St. Louis, whether in left field or center field. He's shaping up as a big-time bounceback candidate for 2023, assuming there is better luck on the health front.

Jordan Groshans - Takes live BP on TuesdayGroshans (shoulder) took batting practice Tuesday morning in Marlins camp, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ImpactIt's another step in the right direction for Groshans, who banged up his left shoulder earlier this month in a Grapefruit League game. The 23-year-old will seemingly be ready for the beginning of the season at Triple-A Jacksonville.

Nick Fortes - Takes batting practiceFortes (knee) took batting practice on a back field Tuesday at Marlins camp, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ImpactFortes came out of a split-squad game last week due to tendinitis in his right knee, but it doesn't seem to be an overly serious issue. If healthy, he projects to open the 2023 regular season in a timeshare at catcher in Miami with Jacob Stallings.
