Sixto Sánchez - Optioned to Triple-AThe Marlins optioned Sanchez (shoulder) to Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ImpactSanchez has yet to resume a throwing program since he was shut down earlier this month after experiencing continued discomfort in his surgically repaired right shoulder. At this stage, the Marlins aren't expecting him to be available until around midseason at the soonest, so the decision to remove him from the active roster doesn't come as a major surprise. Because Sanchez will likely be placed on Jacksonville's injured list rather than the Marlins', fantasy managers may not have the luxury of stashing the 23-year-old in a reserve slot during what's expected to be a prolonged absence to begin the season.

Cody Poteet - Set to pitch WednesdayPoteet (knee) is scheduled to make a relief appearance Wednesday in the Marlins' Grapefruit League game against the Nationals, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
ImpactPoteet will be throwing for the second time this spring, after he struck out three over two scoreless frames Friday against the Nationals. As a rookie last season, Poteet made seven starts for Miami and submitted a 4.99 ERA and 1.34 WHIP across 30.2 innings before he suffered a sprained right knee in late June that ended his campaign prematurely. Though he's back to full health again this spring, Poteet likely finds himself on the outside looking in for a spot in Miami's Opening Day rotation. He could still break camp with the big club as a long reliever, though the organization may prefer to have him stay stretched out as a starter at Triple-A Jacksonville.

Alex Reyes - Signs one-year dealReyes (shoulder) agreed to a one-year, $2.85 million contract with the Cardinals on Tuesday to avoid arbitration, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.
ImpactReyes and the Cardinals were able to agree on a salary for 2022 without requiring an arbiter. The 27-year-old has been shut down from throwing for the next four weeks after receiving a stem-cell injection for a frayed labrum in his throwing shoulder, and he isn't expected to be cleared for game action until at least late May.

Giovanny Gallegos - Inks deal for 2022Gallegos signed a one-year, $2.41 million contract with the Cardinals on Tuesday to avoid arbitration, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.
ImpactGallegos had 14 saves in 22 chances and 24 holds with 3.02 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 95:20 K:BB over 80.1 innings last season, leading to a strong salary number in his first year of arbitration eligibility. The 30-year-old was a dominant closer down the stretch in 2021, but he may open this season in a closing committee with Genesis Cabrera.
