Good to go after HBPNationals manager Dave Martinez said Noll is fine after he was struck in the helmet by a pitch during Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Marlins, Jesse Dougherty of The...
ImpactNoll was one of two Nationals players to get drilled by a pitch Wednesday, as outfielder Victor Robles also departed after being struck on the wrist. Fortunately, neither player will end up missing time; Robles is back in the lineup Thursday against the Mets, while Noll should be available off the bench. The 26-year-old Noll is competing for a bench role on the Nationals' Opening Day roster.

Working on skills behind plateAlfaro drew praise Wednesday from Marlins manager Don Mattingly for the work he's put in to improve how he handles the pitching staff, Barry Jackson and Craig Mish of The Miami Her...
ImpactThe 27-year-old was benched in the playoffs last season due in part to his poor game-calling, but Alfaro is the only catcher on the roster likely to supply much offense with regular playing time, as the alternatives are Chad Wallach (career .600 OPS) and Sandy Leon (career .611 OPS). The Marlins could look for a long-term solution at the position in this year's draft, but Alfaro will probably retain his starting spot for now, especially if he can regain the confidence of Miami's staff.

Could debut this summerBleday has impressed the Marlins with his maturity so far in camp, and the team hasn't ruled out the 23-year-old making his big-league debut later in the season, Barry Jackson and...
ImpactThe organization's No. 2 fantasy prospect homered in Miami's first game this spring before showing off his arm in right field on a double play Tuesday. Bleday will likely begin the season at Double-A Pensacola, but if he looks good at the plate in the high minors and the Marlins aren't in playoff contention, they could trade Corey Dickerson to open up a corner outfield spot for the youngster.

Dealing with muscle strainNationals manager Dave Martinez said Thursday that Rainey is dealing with a minor muscle strain near his right collarbone and has yet to resume mound work, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSp...
ImpactRainey ended the 2020 campaign on the shelf with a right flexor strain, but the 28-year-old has been bothered by a different injury since reporting to spring training a couple weeks ago. According to Martinez, Rainey was shut down for a few days to begin camp, but he's since been cleared for long toss from 90 feet. Based on where Rainey currently stands in his recovery, Martinez believes that the right-hander is still on pace to make about six or seven appearances this spring, which would put him on track to be ready for Opening Day.

Back in action ThursdayRobles (elbow) will start in center field and bat leadoff in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Mets, Matt Weyrich of NBC Sports Washington reports.
ImpactRobles was removed from Wednesday's game against the Marlins after being struck in the elbow by a pitch, but his early exit appears to have been precautionary. Per Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post, manager Dave Martinez said Robles' forearm guard protected him from any injury, so the 23-year-old looks like he'll be fine moving forward.
