Returning Tuesday Manager Dusty Baker said Tuesday that Brantley (hamstring) will be activated from the injured list and start in Tuesday's series opener against the Red Sox, SportsTalk 790 reports.

Impact Reports last week indicated that Brantley was on track to be reinstated from the 10-day injured list early in Houston's road trip, and it appears that the outfielder will rejoin the lineup Tuesday at Fenway Park. Though Baker has yet to release the starting nine, he did note that Brantley will be batting slightly lower than usual in his return. With that said, the 34-year-old will almost surely work his way back toward the top of the Astros' order as he gets back into the swing of things.

Impact Brantley is already eligible to return from the injured list, but he'll need at least a few more days before he's ready to go. Chas McCormick has handled left field in his absence, but Brantley should reclaim his everyday role as soon as he's healthy.

The outfielder was placed on the IL retroactive to May 25, meaning the earliest he could return is Friday, when Houston kicks off its three-city, nine-game road trip in Buffalo against the Blue Jays.

Impact Brantley was slated to miss a third straight game Friday, so it isn't entirely surprising to see the team place him on the injured list. Chas McCormick and Aledmys Diaz could see increased time in left field in Brantley's absence, while Robel Garcia was called up by the Astros in a corresponding move.
