Signs minors deal with CWS Chavis signed a minor-league contract with the White Sox on Wednesday, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Chavis inked a MiLB deal with the Mariners during the offseason and spent the first several months of the year with Triple-A Tacoma, slashing .290/.366/.485 with 29 RBI across 191 plate appearances. He opted out of his deal with Seattle on June 1 and will now look to carve out a role for himself with the White Sox. The 28-year-old has experience covering every base as well as in left field, and he could join the big-league club at some point if his bat remains hot at Triple-A Charlotte.

Reassigned to MiLB camp The Mariners reassigned Chavis to minor-league camp Saturday, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.

Impact Chavis signed with the Mariners in January as a non-roster invitee, but he will end up missing the cut after going 2-for-18 across eight games with two RBI and eight strikeouts. Chavis owns a .650 OPS since 2021 and will head to the minors looking to fight his way back onto the major-league bench.

Impact Getting the start at second base and batting eighth, Chavis put together his first multi-hit performance since May 28. The 28-year-old has seen a slight uptick in playing time following Luis Garcia's demotion, appearing in four games so far in August and going 4-for-12 with a walk and a run, but Chavis now sits behind jake Alu on the depth chart and isn't likely to move into a starting role down the stretch.
