Impact King entered the game with no outs and the bases loaded, following three consecutive walks by Aroldis Chapman. The 26-year-old needed just five pitches to get out of the jam as he struck out George Springer and Bo Bichette lined into a game-ending double-play. It was the first career save for King. He is fairly far down the depth chart in the Yankees bullpen and is unlikely to get many more save opportunities anytime soon.

Impact King entered Friday's matchup in the 10th inning and allowed the runner on second base to come across, but he remained in the game after the Yankees tied it up in the bottom half of the inning. He struck out two of the three batters he faced in the top of the 11th and was rewarded with his fourth career win. In spite of Friday's outing, the 26-year-old is expected to serve mainly in low-leverage situations in 2022.

Impact King missed much of last season with a finger injury but posted respectable numbers when he did pitch, compiling a 3.55 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 62:24 K:BB over 63.1 innings. He started in six of his 22 big-league outings last season but is expected to work in a middle-relief role in 2022. King has made three appearances in Grapefruit League play, allowing five runs and yielding three homers over seven frames.

Impact Yankees starter Jordan Montgomery lasted only 3.1 frames in the contest, and the recently activated King was able to give the team some length by throwing 45 pitches over three innings. He was mostly effective, though the right-hander struggled to finish off his final frame, surrendering a single and hitting consecutive Mets batters to loaded the bases before a fielder's choice and error resulted in a pair of runs. Despite the rocky finish, King's return was encouraging given that he hadn't previously pitched in a big-league game since July 3. He'll likely need a few days to recover given his large workload Friday.
