Day off Wednesday Cabrera isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

Impact Cabrera was in the lineup for each of the first five games of the regular season and went 4-for-17 with a double, three RBI, a run, two walks and six strikeouts. He'll get a breather while Eric Haase serves as the designated hitter and bats sixth.

Should be regular DH With Spencer Torkelson making the Opening Day roster, per Jason Beck of MLB.com, Cabrera will likely serve as the team's primary designated hitter this season.

Impact Cabrera made 44 appearances at first base last season versus 83 starts at DH, and that split could get even more extreme in 2022 with Torkelson on board and set to play first most days. Cabrera may still fill in at first when Torkelson rests, but the veteran looks like he won't play the field very much unless injuries change the team's plans.

After a few injury-plagued seasons, the 38-year-old Cabrera appeared in 130 games for the Tigers last year, recording a .702 OPS, 15 home runs and 75 RBI.
