Impact The two New York teams are flipping relievers in the deal, with Castro providing the Yankees with another potential setup option while Zack Britton (elbow) remains on track to miss most, if not all, of the 2022 season. Castro likely won't rank high in the pecking order for saves with his new team, but he proved to be a serviceable arm for the Mets in 2021, finishing with a 3.45 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and nine holds over 70.1 innings.

Impact Castro was a solid bullpen piece for the Mets in 2021 with a 3.45 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 77:43 K:BB across 70.1 innings. He also recorded nine holds and could see some high-leverage opportunities if he continues to pitch well this season.

Handed relief loss Castro (3-4) lost Monday's 7-5 defeat at the hands of San Francisco, allowing two runs on two hits with two strikeouts in 1.1 innings.
Impact Castro relieved Rich Hill with two on and two out in the fourth and induced a Tommy La Stella lineout to escape the threat but surrendered a Kris Bryant two-run home run in the fifth to fall in line for the loss. The earned runs are the first Castro has given up in August and he now has 3.38 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 56:29 K:BB ratio in 50.2 innings this season.
