Picks up third loss Clevinger (2-3) took the loss Saturday, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk over six innings against Cincinnati. He struck out seven.
Impact Outside of a three-run home run by TJ Friedl in the fifth, Clevinger exited Saturday's start relatively unscathed, striking out seven and only handing out one free pass. He was unable to keep control of the basepaths giving up a pair of steals to Jonathan India in separate innings. Clevinger has cooled off after a strong start to the season, giving up 15 runs and six homers in his last four starts, while taking the loss three times. Though Clevinger posted a 12.07 K/9 in 2019, he has yet to return to his previous form after suffering a torn meniscus in 2020. However, Clevinger remains a player worth monitoring moving forward in case he finds his groove.

Impact Clevinger delivered one of his better performances of the early season Sunday after he knocked around for six runs his last time out. The 32-year-old was taken deep on back-to-back at-bats from Taylor Walls and Luke Raley in the fourth but otherwise did not face much pressure on the bases and tied a season-high with eight strikeouts. Clevinger has now given up five home runs over this last three starts after not allowing any in his three outings of the year and has managed to complete six innings just once. He now holds a 4.60 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 26:15 K:BB over 29.1 innings and lines up to face the Reds in Cincinnati next weekend.

Impact Clevinger was able to work around five walks and barely gave up any hard contact en route to his second scoreless outing of the season, but he lost out on an opportunity to secure a third straight win after Baltimore struck for four runs in the seventh inning. Through three outings (16.1 innings), Clevinger sports a 14:10 K:BB and a 2.20 ERA. His next start is tentatively scheduled for next week's three-game set with Philadelphia.

Impact It was far from a pretty performance by the right-hander, who managed only four swinging strikes among his 88 pitches, but the Chicago offense gave him more than enough support. Clevinger's 3.48 ERA isn't reflected in his 1.55 WHIP or 9:5 K:BB through 10.1 innings, but he'll look to make it three wins in a row to begin his White Sox tenure when he next takes the mound, likely next weekend at home against the Orioles.

Battles sinus infection Wednesday Clevinger said he was dealing with a sinus infection during his Cactus League start Wednesday against the Rangers, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.
Impact There was a concerning dip in his velocity readings, and Clevinger blamed it on the illness, saying he struggled to find an "extra gear" with his fastball. Still, the 32-year-old right-hander managed to induce a bevy of groundouts as he turned in five innings of one-run ball versus Texas.
