Recalled from minors Toglia was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque by the Rockies on Monday, Danielle Allentuck of The Denver Gazette reports.

Impact Toglia wasn't able to win an Opening Day roster spot but is up now to replace C.J. Cron (back) following an .857 OPS with eight homers over his first 37 games with Albuquerque. The 24-year-old figures to see ample time at first base while Cron is out, although Mike Moustakas is starting there Monday.

Impact The 24-year-old seemed to have a good chance of making the Opening Day roster in Colorado before the Rockies signed Jurickson Profar last week. Toglia posted impressive numbers in the upper minors last season before struggling badly with strikeouts upon his arrival in the majors. He struck out 24 times in 73 at-bats this spring in the Cactus League, though he did also produce a shiny .900 OPS. Toglia is sure to get another extended look in the early part of the 2023 regular season.

Impact Toglia was in the lineup at first base, though he'll be trying to crack the Opening Day roster as an outfielder. His chances of doing so have improved due to injuries to Sean Bouchard (biceps) and Randal Grichuk (groin), though he has struck out 12 times across 39 plate appearances through 13 games this spring. Toglia also struck out at a 36.7 percent clip in a 120 plate-appearance sample in Colorado to close the 2022 campaign.

He can play first base and the corner outfield while also functioning as an option at DH. That's a similar profile to Bouchard, who suffered a ruptured biceps muscle Wednesday.
