Lifted with back spasms Trout was removed from Tuesday's game against the Astros due to upper-back spasms.

Impact Trout uncharacteristically struck out in both his plate appearances before being replaced in the field for the top of the fifth inning. It's unclear when the injury first surfaced, as even before Tuesday's contest the 30-year-old had struggled through nine games in July with a .508 OPS and 43.2 percent strikeout rate. Trout will continue to be evaluated and should be considered day-to-day for the time being.

Impact Trout put the Angels on the board Friday with his three-run blast, which was his 24th homer of the season. The 30-year-old hit just .045 with an RBI, a walk and 13 strikeouts in the six games leading up to Friday's matchup, so it was encouraging to see him post a multi-hit performance in the narrow loss. On Friday, Trout was named a starter in the outfield for the 2022 All-Star Game, marking the seventh time he's been selected as a starter.
