Sal Frelick - Sitting versus lefty Frelick isn't in the Brewers' lineup Tuesday against the Rockies.

Impact Although Frelick bashed a three-run homer in his only career plate appearance against a lefty, he will take a seat against Kyle Freeland and the Rockies on Tuesday. Tyrone Taylor will start in right field and bat fourth in Frelick's place.

Willy Adames - Sitting again Tuesday Adames isn't in the Brewers' lineup Tuesday against the Rockies.

Impact Adames has started at shortstop for the vast majority of Milwaukee's games this season, but after Adames put up a .201 batting average and .662 OPS through 103 games, manager Craig Counsell decided to give Adames a mental break. The 27-year-old will miss his second straight contest Tuesday, allowing Brice Turang to start at shortstop, Andruw Monasterio at second and Brian Anderson in the hot corner.

Carlos Santana - Out with illness Santana isn't starting Tuesday against Colorado due to illness, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Impact Santana is slashing .167/.205/.310 with two homers and three RBI across 10 games as a Brewer. He'll be considered day-to-day as he fights off his illness, and Mark Canha will step in as Milwaukee's first baseman Tuesday.

Elvis Peguero - Getting back on track Peguero tossed a scoreless eighth inning in Monday's 12-1 victory over the Rockies.

Impact Peguero was preparing to enter the game with the Brewers ahead by only four runs, so don't let the fact that he worked in a blowout lead you to believe he is no longer part of Milwaukee's late-inning mix. Peguero gave up three earned runs twice in late July, but he seems to have righted the ship, allowing just one runner to reach base through three outings in August. He remains the top right-handed option in front of setup man Joel Payamps and closer Devin Williams.

Impact Contreras capped a five-run fourth inning by driving in two on a single, and he added an RBI double in the seventh. The catcher has hit safely in nine of his last 11 games, and he has a double in eight of them despite a relative lack of over-the-fence power. Impact Taylor has hit safely in five of his last six games, going 6-for-16 (.375) with three homers and six RBI in that span. He got the start in right field Monday with Sal Frelick covering for Joey Wiemer in center. Taylor remains limited to a part-time role, and he may be hard pressed to get out of it even with his recent success -- he's slashing just .188/.202/.337 over 104 plate appearances on the year.

Brice Turang - Fills box score Monday Turang went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and a stolen base in Monday's 12-1 win over the Rockies.

Impact Turang did a little bit of everything in this productive effort. He's hit well in August, going 9-for-20 (.450) with two homers, three steals and seven RBI over seven contests this month. The infielder is now slashing .225/.297/.345 with six homers, 14 steals, 27 RBI, 28 runs scored, eight doubles and three triples over 296 plate appearances this season. He got the start at shortstop Monday with Willy Adames resting, but Turang has seen the bulk of his playing time at second base lately.

Freddy Peralta - Cruises to win Peralta (8-8) allowed a run on one hit while striking out 13 without walking a batter over seven innings to earn the win Monday over the Rockies.

Impact Peralta had an excellent the start, with the lone blemish being Ezequiel Tovar's solo home run in the first inning. This was the second time in Peralta's last three starts that he dialed up 13 strikeouts, and four of his last five outings have been quality starts. He's now at a 4.28 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 151:45 K:BB through 122 innings over 22 starts this season. The right-hander is projected to face the White Sox on the road over the weekend.

Impact Wilson suffered the injury July 29 while warming up in the bullpen. He was set to make his return from Tommy John surgery, but now he will not make an appearance in the 2023 season. The reliever only made five appearances last season.

Bennett Sousa - Activated, optioned Sousa was activated from the 60-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Monday.
