Impact Ashby held the Pirates hitless through five innings, and he did not allow an extra-base hit throughout the entirety of his outing. That kept him mostly out of trouble, but he also struggled with his control. That was highlighted by the fact that he walked the leadoff hitter in both the fifth and sixth frames, which the Pirates were only able to convert into one run. Ashby's control has been a problem throughout the campaign, as he now owns a 6.9 BB/9 across 17 innings. To stick in the Brewers' rotation for the entirety of the campaign, Ashby will need to improve that part of his game.

Impact Hader walked two of the first three batters he faced, but he struck out Yoshi Tsutsugo and Roberto Perez to end the game and earn his 10th save of the season. That mark leads the league, but perhaps more impressive have been the skills Hader has displayed. He has yet to allow an earned run across 9.1 innings while striking out 15 and walking only four.

Impact Urena had a shot to record a three-inning save Tuesday, but the Pirates put the tying run on deck in the ninth inning, and Josh Hader was summoned to close the door. Urena has tossed an inning-plus in three of his four appearances and owns a respectable 3.52 ERA, but he also has posted a 3:5 K:BB. Expect him to continue working in middle-to-long relief for the Brewers.

Impact The Pirates brought the tying run to the on-deck circle, which prompted Brewers manager Craig Counsell to bring in his closer. Hader struck out Tucupita Marcano on a called third strike to earn his ninth save of the season. The rate of saves will almost certainly slow down, but the early returns have been greater than even Hader's loudest proponents could have hoped for.

Impact The overall numbers for Wong are still ugly, but he did a nice job setting the table in this one. Manager Craig Counsell seems committed to Wong as his leadoff man against right-handed pitching. Wong could probably use a few more performances like Tuesday's to secure his spot atop the order, although it's not like the Brewers have a lot of hitters forcing the issue.

Impact The Brewers won a 12-8 slugfest and Adames did the heavy lifting. He hit a two-run homer in the first inning, drove in two on a double in the fifth inning and later went yard a second time to cap a six-run sixth for Milwaukee. He also homered Monday, so Adames has more extra-base hits in the last two days than he had in his first 16 games of the 2022 season.

Impact One of the runs against Woodruff touched home after he exited the game, with Brent Suter allowing an inherited runner to score. Woodruff now sports a 5.30 ERA this season. That number is misleading -- Woodruff had just turned in consecutive scoreless outings in his last two starts prior to Tuesday -- but his strikeouts are down.
