Huascar Ynoa - Blasted for six runs in rehab startYnoa (hand) tossed two innings in his rehab start Sunday for High-A Rome, allowing six earned runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out two.
ImpactYnoa displayed plenty of rust Sunday, which was to be expected after he had been sidelined since mid-May with a fractured right hand. Though the results left much to be desired, Ynoa tossed 51 pitches in the outing, a workload that suggests he may only need one or two more rehab starts before he's stretched out enough to rejoin the Atlanta rotation. Prior to landing on the injured list, Ynoa went 4-2 with a 3.02 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 50:11 K:BB in 44.2 innings over nine appearances (eight starts) with Atlanta.

Brewers acquire veteran reliever John Axford from Blue Jays

Reliever John Axford’s comeback attempt has taken a detour from Toronto to Milwaukee

John Axford - Returns to Cream CityThe Brewers acquired Axford from the Blue Jays on Monday in exchange for cash considerations.
ImpactPer Will Sammon of The Athletic, Axford will be active for Milwaukee's series opener against Pittsburgh on Monday, so the Brewers will clear room on the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster for the 38-year-old reliever. Axford -- who hasn't appeared in the big leagues since 2018 -- enjoyed the best years of his career in Milwaukee, most notably setting the franchise single-season record for saves (46) in 2011. After linking up with the Blue Jays on a minor-league deal in late June, Axford proved he still had something left in the tank, as he posted a 0.84 ERA, 0.49 WHIP and 14:3 K:BB across 10.2 innings at Triple-A Buffalo. He'll provide aid to a Brewers bullpen that recently lost three members to the COVID-19 injured list.
