Luke Adams - Disturbing splits at Single-AAdams is slashing .236/.402/.406 with 11 home runs, 30 steals and a 22.1 percent strikeout rate in 98 games for Single-A Carolina.
ImpactAdams has an odd looking swing and doesn't project to offer much defensive value down the road (time at third base and first base this year), but his plate skills as a 19-year-old slugger at Single-A are intriguing. His 0.78 BB/K is the 11th best mark among all qualified Single-A hitters, and the fourth-best mark among that subset that also have an ISO north of .150. However, the righty-hitting Adams has a .931 OPS and an 11.7 percent strikeout rate in 94 plate appearances against lefties, compared to a .775 OPS and a 24.9 percent strikeout rate in 341 plate appearances against righties. He will either need to turn himself into an average defensive third baseman or make significant improvements against same-handed pitching to project as a big-league regular.

William Contreras - Swipes third bagContreras went 1-for-4 with one run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's 5-4 loss against the Pirates.
ImpactContreras walked in his first at-bat and then came around to score on a Willy Adames home run as the Brewers took an early 3-1 lead. The catcher then added an infield single in the fifth before swiping his third bag of the season, and the second in his last seven games. Contreras has now hit safely in 15 of his last 16 games, racking up 12 RBI over that stretch to go along with 17 runs scored.

What we learned in MLB this week: Where does the Dodgers' rotation go from here?
David Bednar - Nails down 33rd saveBednar picked up the save Wednesday against the Brewers, allowing one hit while striking out two over a scoreless inning. He did not walk a batter.
ImpactBednar gave up a leadoff single to Andruw Monasterio in the top of the ninth but was able to retire the next three batters to nail down his 33rd save of the season. The right-hander has now converted each of his last save opportunities and has not allowed a run through five September appearances. He also has not walked a batter since Aug. 19 against the Twins (spanning eight appearances).

Willy Adames - Three-run homer in lossAdames went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's 5-4 loss against the Pirates.
ImpactAdames took Colin Selby deep for a three-run shot in the top of the first to give the Brewers an early lead and later added a single, marking his first multi-hit game this month. The shortstop had just one hit in 16 September at-bats coming in, which was also a three-run homer and he's now struck out at least one time in six straight games. With that said, Adames has homered in four of his last 16 contests, batting .254 over that stretch while also driving in 16 runs.

Freddy Peralta - Allows three runs in no-decisionPeralta did not factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing three runs on four hits and one walk over 5.1 innings against the Pirates. He struck out four.
ImpactAfter surrendering a solo homer to Ke'Bryan Hayes in the first inning, Peralta held the Pirates scoreless over the next four frames. However, the right-hander would go on to be charged with another two runs in the sixth before being relieved by Trevor Megill. Peralta recorded just four strikeouts in the contest, the fewest he's posted in a start since June 1 and he's now allowed a home run in three consecutive outings. Through two September starts he holds a 3.18 ERA to go along with a 14:1 K:BB.
