Evan Longoria - No hits in returnLongoria (oblique) went 0-for-3 with a strikeout and a hit-by-pitch in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Brewers.
ImpactLongoria had a minimum stay on the injured list to recover from a left oblique strain. He wasn't able to generate a hit in his return, but he got aboard in the eighth when he was plunked, and Wilmer Flores scored the winning run soon after. Longoria played the full game at third base, where he should settle into a near-everyday role going forward. The 36-year-old is slashing .237/.329/.452 with eight home runs, 18 RBI, 18 runs scored and five doubles through 155 plate appearances this season, which has seen him battle finger, shoulder and hamstring injuries.

Wilmer Flores - Scores winning runFlores went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Brewers.
ImpactFlores' lone hit Saturday was an eighth-inning single, and he came around to score when reliever Jandel Gustave committed a balk with the bases loaded. That proved to be the decisive run in the contest. Flores was out of the lineup for two games with calf soreness, and he was able to return only as the designated hitter Saturday. The versatile infielder has enjoyed some of the best health on the Giants this year, slashing .253/.336/.446 with 13 home runs, 50 RBI, 46 runs scored and 17 doubles through 330 plate appearances. The upcoming All-Star break should allow him enough rest to fully recover.

Darin Ruf - Homers in consecutive contestsRuf went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Brewers.
ImpactRuf opened the scoring in the sixth inning with a blast off Brewers starter Eric Lauer. This was Ruf's second straight game with a homer, and he's up to nine long balls on the year. The 35-year-old has hit safely in nine of 15 games in July, though he hasn't record a multi-hit effort since June 23. He's slashing .227/.336/.376 with 32 RBI, 41 runs scored and two stolen bases through 283 plate appearances. Ruf should continue to work his way into the lineup regularly versus southpaws.

John Brebbia - Snags win SaturdayBrebbia (5-1) walked one and struck out one in two-thirds of an inning to earn the win Saturday over the Brewers.
ImpactAfter Alex Cobb gave up a run on a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning, Brebbia entered the contest. He walked Jonathan Davis -- who then stole second -- and struck out Christian Yelich before Davis was caught trying to steal third. The Giants went ahead in the bottom of the eighth to put Brebbia in line for the win, which was closed out by Dominic Leone. Through eight innings in July, Brebbia has given up six hits and four walks but only one run. The right-hander has a steady 2.45 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 36:12 K:BB with eight holds through 40.1 innings.

Dominic Leone - Converts second saveLeone allowed a hit and struck out one in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Brewers.
ImpactLeone navigated the ninth inning on 11 pitches (eight strikes) to pick up his second save of the year. It was an interesting choice from manager Gabe Kapler -- Camilo Doval didn't pitch Friday, but he's struggled lately. Leone has now pitched three consecutive scoreless innings since a four-run blow-up July 5 versus the Diamondbacks. He could be in line to become the primary setup man or even challenge for the closer role, as Jake McGee was designated for assignment last Saturday and Tyler Rogers has moved into a middle-relief role. Leone has a sharp 3.31 ERA, but his 1.44 WHIP and 35:12 K:BB in 32.2 innings don't scream the stuff of elite closer, though he's also picked up 10 holds and posted a 3-1 record.

Alex Cobb - Strong in longest outing of seasonCobb allowed an unearned run on four hits and no walks while striking out five in 7.1 innings versus the Brewers on Saturday. He did not factor in the decision.
ImpactCobb allowed the Brewers to tie the game at 1-1 with a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning. That was the only run he allowed, but he exited after the play, having thrown 99 pitches (64 strikes). This was his longest outing of the season and one of his best performances as well. The right-hander now has a 4.09 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 68:20 K:BB across 70.1 innings. Cobb carries a 3-4 record into the second half of the campaign.
