JB Bukauskas - Dealing with oblique injuryManager Pat Murphy said Wednesday that Bukauskas (shoulder) is recovering from an oblique strain, and the Brewers are hopeful that he'll be available for game action "by the end of...
ImpactBukauskas was initially placed on the injured list back on April 14 with a right lat strain, but the Brewers later reclassified the injury as a right tricep strain. He then experienced a setback with his shoulder during a June 13 rehab appearance, resulting in him being shut down again. Bukauskas resumed his rehab assignment in late July, but he made just three appearances in the minors before apparently tweaking his oblique at some point along the way. While the Brewers are optimistic that Bukauskas will make it back from the IL during the final month of the season, it's not clear when he'll be ready to start up his rehab assignment for a third time.

Rob Zastryzny - Rehab paused, should throw soonBrewers manager Pat Murphy said Wednesday that Zastryzny (elbow) experienced some "tightness" coming out of his most recent rehab appearance Aug. 13 but is expected to resume throw...
ImpactThough he made just two appearances for Triple-A Nashville before being pulled off the rehab assignment, Zastryzny appears to have avoided a major setback and could be cleared for game action soon if he's responds well to his upcoming throwing session. Before landing on the 15-day injured list July 26 with left elbow tendinitis, Zastryzny made nine appearances for Milwaukee and gave up one earned run on four hits and one walk over 7.2 innings.

Ryan Helsley - Leads majors with 39 savesHelsley allowed one hit during a scoreless ninth inning to pick up the save Thursday against the Brewers. He did not strike out a batter.
ImpactHelsley allowed a one-out single but otherwise breezed in closing out the three-run victory. It marked his league-leading 39th save of the season, more than doubling his previous career high of 19 back in 2022. Helsley has been especially dominant over his last 18 games, posting a 1.93 ERA and 1.18 WHIP with 18 strikeouts, 12 saves (14 opportunities) and three wins over 18.2 innings.

Jason Woodward - Makes full-season debutWoodward (elbow) has struck out seven batters while allowing two earned runs on four hits and four walks over four innings across two appearances since being activated from Single-...
ImpactA fourth-round pick in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft, Woodward didn't make his professional debut until June 27, when he was cleared to begin a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League after completing his recovery from the Tommy John surgery he underwent in the spring of 2023. He made four appearances in the ACL before moving up to Carolina, where he'll most likely finish the 2024 campaign. He hasn't covered more than two innings in any of his six outings to date but should have his workload restriction loosened a bit in 2025.
AUGUST 23ROTOWIRE
Miles Mikolas - Right's ship with scoreless outingMikolas did not factor into the decision Thursday, allowing two hits and a walk over six scoreless innings against the Brewers. He struck out three.
ImpactMikolas held the Brewers in check, allowing merely one walk after the first inning during one of his most effective outings of the season. He entered Thursday's contest having allowed 25 runs in 31 innings (7.26 ERA) over his last six starts but kept the Brewers off the board in posting his first quality start since July 8. While Mikolas rewarded the Cardinals with a solid effort, his teammates failed to return the favor, waiting until after he was removed from the game to put the winning runs on the board. He'll look to continue this momentum into his next scheduled start, slated to take place at home in a tough matchup against the Padres.
AUGUST 23ROTOWIRE
Freddy Peralta - Tosses five scoreless inningPeralta did not factor into the decision Thursday, allowing three hits and two walks over five scoreless innings against the Cardinals. He struck out two.
ImpactPeralta put together his fourth scoreless outing in 26 starts this season, though it's the first time he failed to complete six frames during such an outing. He racked up 92 pitches through five innings, including just 49 for strikes which helped lead to the slightly abbreviated outing. Over his last 12 starts, Peralta has completed at least five innings 11 times, posting a 3.26 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with 66 strikeouts over 66.1 innings. His next start is scheduled to take place in a home matchup against the Giants.
