Yadier Molina - On bench again FridayMolina (shoulder) is out of the lineup Friday against the Cubs, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
ImpactMolina will sit for the forth straight game while nursing a sore right shoulder. St. Louis has secured it's playoff positioning, so there's no incentive to rush the veteran catcher back into the starting nine. Andrew Knizner will work behind the plate again in his absence.

Edmundo Sosa - Sitting again FridaySosa (wrist) is not in the lineup Friday against the Cubs, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
ImpactSosa will be on the bench for the seventh straight contest as he continues to manage a right wrist injury, The Cardinals have secured their place in the playoffs, so the 25-year-old won't be rushed back this weekend. Paul DeJong will receive another start at shortstop.

Adam Wainwright - Agrees to extensionWainwright agreed to a one-year extension with the Cardinals on Friday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
ImpactWainwright appeared to be fading as expected throughout his mid-to-late thirties before suddenly bouncing back over the last two seasons, posting a combined 3.08 ERA over 42 starts. While that number outpaces his peripherals, his 3.76 FIP and 3.95 xFIP both indicate that he's still very much a useful pitcher. Next year will be Wainwright's age-40 season, and it's likely that it will be his final one, as he indicated over the summer that he'd retire after the 2021 or 2022 season. Longtime teammate Yadier Molina also signed a one-year extension back in August with the intention of retiring after the year, so the battery mates will probably ride off into the sunset together.
