Emmanuel Rodriguez - Back on Triple-A IL Rodriguez has been placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A St. Paul with a right thumb sprain, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Impact Rodriguez first injured the thumb back in late April and has now aggravated the injury at least twice. He was limited to just 47 games and 209 plate appearances in 2024, so the Twins might want him to play winter ball once he's healthy to make up for lost time. Rodriguez did still perform well when on the field, collecting a 1.026 OPS with nine homers and nine steals over four stops.

Impact Built more like an NBA shooting guard than a big-league shortstop, the 6-foot-6 Winokur has made 61 starts at shortstop, 20 starts in center field, 10 starts at third base and two starts in right field for the Mighty Mussels. The Twins gave Winokur a $1.5 million bonus -- almost double the $859,700 slot value -- after selecting him with the No. 82 overall pick in 2023. He has plus raw power and plus speed and has been a better hitter than expected this year, although he will likely always run higher strikeout rates, given his height and long levers.

Byron Buxton - Reinstated from injured list The Twins activated Buxton (hip) from the 10-day injured list Thursday.
Impact The Twins are idle Thursday, but Buxton will be back for the start of their weekend series against the Reds on Friday, as expected. Buxton had been set to return from his hip injury last week but felt lingering soreness while on a rehab assignment. However, he's been able to run without issue in recent days, clearing the way for his activation. Buxton should be the Twins' everyday center fielder, although the club might try to mix in some off days as he comes back from injury.
